I was just wondering if aBig Mek could repair a battle wagon from inside another battle wagon? It says "In base contact with" and I was wondering if two vehichles were next to eachother if they would count as BTB?

I would say no because the Big Mek is INSIDE the battle wagon. The Big Mek itself isn't in base contact with the battle wagon. It would be crazy if you can drive a Big Mek in a wagon to repair other vehicles.

As it is written in the Codex, so shall it be.

Though I think you should be able to do this if you have a boarding plank...

But you have to use the Grabbin' Klaw to keep them in place, especially since Orks don't like to hold still when battle's about.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification. I guess my Iron Mek Cage Repair Factory idea wont work.

If I thought it was possible, I would load a Rhino with a Techmarine because they (basically) do the same thing for repairing. LoL It would be an armored Techmarine.

The rule states if the Big Mek or Mek boy is inside Or BASE TO BASE With a Vehicle he can Attempt to repair the Vehicle. How is this can this be if the Vehicle does not have a Base ? I know the answer but with that answer why can he not repair a vehicle that is base to base Or Vehicle to Vehicle ?

Your saying the Mek takes on the base (hull area) of the vehicle he is inside? What does he do? Reach his arm out a fire point?

If yes, does his repair take up one of the "shots" from the fire point?

By being in the vehicle; check out page 66 of the BRB; last bit of embarking: "If a player needs to measure a range involving the embarked unit(except shooting), this range is measured to or from the vehicle's hull."

While not RAI, it is RAW; if your Big mek/techmarine/Techpriest engineseer is in a transport vehicle, you can move that transport vehicle into hull-to hull contact with another vehicle in order to repair that second vehicle.

But he can, IIRC, repair the vehicle he is embarked on right.

or does he need to get out like Techmarines do?

techmarines no longer need to get out either: most recent SM FAQ:
Q: Can a Techmarine, or Master of the Forge, attempt to
use his Blessing of the Omnissiah special rule to repair a
vehicle he is currently embarked upon? (p70,71)
A: Yes.
