Went to the tournament this Saturday. Twas a Generalship (battlepoints) tournament and 4 rounds at 1850. My list was:

So, lots of intantry, good target saturation. Good close combat ability and counter assault potential.

So, on to game 1 against Brian and his Space Wolves:

Dawn of war-multiple objectives (we rolled for 5)

He had a lot of drop pods and a lot of long fang support. I decided to bait him into an objective behind LOS terrain and then when he took the bait I took fist blood as my entire army then pounced on that one unit and was then out of LOS from his long fangs.




The end result he took secondary (kill points) but I had primay, objectives and tertiary, having units within 6" of enemies table edge.

Game 2: "roll dice and draw" pitched

So, a victory for the templars. Feeling confident I went into round two and was going to play against another templar! His list:

All in all, this game went in my favour from the very start... and all he had left at the end of a game was one marine... I had primary, secondary and tertiary for almost full points.

So then lunch, had some good food and talked to friends... and lo and behold as I thought I was paired up against McBeath and his very lovely looking pre-heresy Emperors Children (vulkan) list... The armies were very similar in number of bodies, as well as fire support so it was going to be quite the game.

So I gave him first turn and deployed rather well IMO, keeping my dread bubblewrapped by my entire army... his first turn saw the sternguard come down and put about 8 melta/plasma wounds on my termies... of course I had placed them in cover... and lo and behold I lost just one. Those tactical termies proceeded to take out the sternguard squad, the ironclad a dread a speeder and a pod they were awesome.



At the very last he was able to hold onto secondary but I confortably took primary and tertiary.

So going into round 4 I was close to the top, ran into a swarmlord nid player that had massacred his three opponents...

So, this game I stole the initiative and pounded the trygon and the tervigon almost killin both. Then he moved up and my second turn saw me kil the trygon and move the rhinos into screening positions. He just came at me and I charged and killed everything with a combination of good no retreat wounds forcing and target priority. At the end of the game he had the swarmlord left alive with one wound left! I had all three, primary, secondary and tertiary.... for full points.




So, won the overall award! and took the big prize . Box of gray knight termies and gray knight codex for me! This list is awesome, lots of bodies, great fire support and in the hands of a decent player, quite scary. Cheers to all for an awesome tournament, feel free to leave a comment!
