Good show. *raises glass*

It doesn't matter what nationality you were, you pioneered space flight.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

In fact, a big kudos to all of the Soviet cosmonauts.

They certainly advanced space flight by agreeing to be test subjects for an evil and corrupt empire. Their achievements were astounding, their courage laudable, and their sacrifice depressing.

Sound like you are talking about the American space programme.

'Golf on the moon'.....

But, yeah, the Sov's system wasn't that great.

Hip-Hip Huzzah for Yuri!

I was shocked when I learned the story of him and his best friend, Vladimir Komarov. A very sad story, indeed. Both men made great sacrifices to the cause of improving humanity.

Hip hip huzzah for Yuri Gargarin, working as he did for a ideologically driven country which was competing against another ideologically driven country, and who no doubt viewed their rivals as evil and corrupt, just as their rivals viewed them as same!
I raise my glass to him!

I love the space program and Jethro Tull is a close runner-up, so what a great combo:

I believe the US Space program is fantastic. We not only put people in space but also conduct experiments to better the lives of people on earth. Someone mentioned Tang, Velcro but NASA also helped to develop the MRI and many other scientific advancements that we enjoy today.

He may have been a goddamn Soviet, but he was a human. I'll raise a glass to a chimp with those kind of stones any day. To Yuri.

When will this moment pass?

Somewhere in south-central England.

When I went to the Soviet Union there was a great Space Flight museum with a load of big rockets and stuff. It was near the Hotel Cosmos where I stayed, so I walked over there for a visit.

There was a brilliant memorial to the cosmonauts, made of polished titanium. (So I was told.)
