Yesterday i played a game against tyranids who have a number of psykers within unit, Mind strike missiles state "any psyker hit by a mind strike missile suffers the perils of the warp in addition to any other effects". So if i hit a swarmlord who has 3 tyrant guard with 12 missiles (lucky i know) can he allocate the perils to his tyrants guard who take no damage as they are not psykers ?.

What? No.

I was under the impression that if the psyker is under the template (ie has been hit) then they suffer perils of the warp. No wound allocation takes place for POW as it effects specific models rather than units.

theonetyrant - categorically, 100% NO to that

You can ONLY allocate wounds. So, as soon as the tyrant is hit by a mindstrike, he takes a perils. You still generate up to 4 hits per unit, even if the swarmlord is dead by the time you allocate wounds.

If the Codex states any wounds can be allocated to the Tyrant Guard then yes.

And before others jump in and say I am wrong, the same is true of Acolytes from Codex WH. An Inquisitor who suffers a POW and has Acolytes can have the acolyte suffer the wound. As they allow in the unit description that Any wounds can be allocated to them before saves are made.

If it is worded like that in the Tyranids Codex then yeah you could do that, but the Tyrant Guard would take a wound with no save allowed.

I'm pretty sure it just says that the Tyrant can join them and then can't leave.

Yea for 'Nids getting shafted by the newest codex(again)!

Maybe, but not ALL (200+ point)psykers(which the army practically hinges around) are apparently allergic to Invul saves.

A lot of sw armies hinge around rp, and they only have 2 wounds, not 4. The chances of all 4 missiles hitting is very low.

anyone else think it's odd that the only psykers that have Invulns standard are Eldar and Grey Knights?

everyone else either doesn't have access or has to pay alot for it.

I in no way feel its odd that fluff wise the 2 strongest psychic forces in the galaxy are the primary ones to have Inv saves. All chaos psykers have Inv saves.. As an eldar player that runs a bike council.. Mind strike missiles are all bad

Eldar 8+ years/CSM 4+ years

Tyranids can blot out the astronomican (until the Imperium figures out they need to put it in a [metal] box anyway)...that isn't strong?

Apparently not

There's a huge disconnect between the fluff badassery of the Nids and the actual in-game abilities.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

So's the in-game rules, mate
My comment was in answer to this post :

'Tyranids can blot out the astronomican (until the Imperium figures out they need to put it in a [metal] box anyway)...that isn't strong?'

Apparently Nid powers can be blocked by a sheet of rusty scrap metal, so therefore aren't all that strong

Fluffwise no psychic powers should operate at all anywhere the nids are in heavy concentration unless they are obscenely powerful, and even then they would be distorted and weakened (Astronomican).

The more powerful Psykers in the Nid list should really have an invulnerable save (and did have the option (even if it wasn't that good a one) in the 4th ed codex.)

The Zoanthropes still do, as they're basically psykercannons.

right,

I forgot about Zoenthropes

they are far too easy to kill off hand and usually don't get a chance to Perils

Ok, first question are Mind Strike Missiles a psychic shooting attack? (I've thumbed through a codex, but know zilch about the Grey Knights except for what I troll here. If the the missiles are a psychic shooting attack....

TG have no special PotW rules.

"IF SO" then a Rune Priest runic weapon is allowed to nullify the ability along with any Wolf Tail Tailisman wargear equipped. In that regard it becomes less scary, but still not cool.

Secondly, what about psykers in vehicles? Immune?
Again, im unfamiliar with the Grey Knight Codex so I am not sure what type of weapon these missiles are... Clarification?
Thanx!

they are 4 one shot missiles on a Stromraven.

they cause any psyker that is under the template to suffer a Perils.

so a Psyker in a vehicle wouldn't be affected, but everything else would.
