Right I know I made a thread like this a long time ago just inquiring about the systems and generally being annoying by changing my mind a lot.
but now a friend has 'bit the bullet' as he put it and bought the Hordes book with the intention of playing Skorne.
Personnally I would probably take up the mantle of either Circle Orboros or possibly a warmachine faction.
I would like to know what sort of tactics are strong for Skorne and what their strengths and weaknesses are. I have heard they are slow.
My planned purchases with Circle would be the battle box/warpack whatever it's called.
So my 15pt list will be based arround that with:
Kaya
Argus
Feral Warpwolf
Reeves of Orboros (6strong)
Reeve Hunter
(I used Forward Kommander)
Is this any good for a starting player? I realise I will have a spare Argus left over from the battle box. How about the learning curve?
Thanks for your time.

if you dont mind ditching the battlebox, heres a 15 pt eKaya list
eKaya (awesome feat, more survivable than pKaya and better assassination potential)
Laris (arcnode and slam machine for knockdowns)
Pureblood warpwolf (high number of attacks, spray for anti infantry. hits hard. gives ghostly to himself and feral for free)
Feral Warpwolf (high number of attacks, can be very fast or can hit very hard)
to bump up to 25 pts just put a Warpwolf Stalker in there
It may seem like an anemic list but the basic idea here is to hit first, hit hard, hit far and pull everything back to safety so you can do the same for another round
Skorne is weird, they can be slow but then you start seeing feroxes and Molik Karn... is your friend going with the Battlebox?
edit: sorry for disregarding the list you made. its just that the Circle battlebox isnt the best cost/model investment right now. The battle box is great for lower point games but youll quicly be dumping 3 of the models in it once you start moving up (Kaya and the dogs)
and this is from someone who loves pKaya to death

The 2 Circle players I know both play p and e Kaya and both say they prefer pKaya because they can yo-yo more often, and not just on feat turn.
Circle is a good faction. Druids will be you friend, being able to pull/push something can really mess with your opponent (like pulling a best out of control range).
As for Skorne, it really depends on the caster. Our titans may be speed 4, but the rest of the army tends to be a bit faster.

Thanks for the reply.
I would have thought the battlebox to be a good investment compared to buying them induvidually. (money isn't exactly brilliantly expendable atm)
And I don't know about what my freind plans to do. He could buy the battlebox, but more than likely he won't I think.
Theres no real reason I picked Kaya apart from the fact she's in the battlebox.

you can try proxying them first to see if theyll be worth it
personally, my 2 argii have been gathering dust and i dont have anyone to take them off my hands
its not that they arent good...but they take up space for something a lot better
@casper
starting out i also preferred pkaya...but then i realized that any game lasting longer than turn 4 with pKaya is a losing game...i started looking at what eKaya can do a lot more closely and i liked what i saw

So would you suggest pKaya for a newbie?

pKaya as a warlock? sure shes straightforward and will teach you the value of fury as well as be forgiving when it comes to maxing out your beasts
id get her...outside of the battlebox its really the two argus that come with the box that really sours the deal
you can get her fig outside of the battle box, unfortunately her new fig is fugly

I like the alternative fig better to the standard.
And it's quite reliving knowing the argus isn't very good as I don't like the model for it either!
Does she do well with infintry? Or is she more of a beast caster? (I'm guessing beast here.)

beast caster...but she can give a unit stealth
thankfully, Circle Infantry tend to be very self supporting. Id run her with Bloodtrackers (so kaya can give herself stealth) or wolfriders (stealth on these things are nasty)

Avoid Reeves unless you are planning to play pKaya's tier.
Bakerofish speaks wisely in the ways of Circle infantry, though I would add Druids of Orboros and Shifting Stones to that list of 'core' units.

Is there anything inparticular bad about Reeves? Just not strong shooters?

If it's just the base unit, they're somewhat uninspiring. However, when you add in the UA and a Hunter (plus some War Wolves) they're pretty spiffy.

I would have to disagree here, their UA's ability is rather lacklustre and does not work well with their combined range ability. He also makes a full unit cost 12 points.
A full unit of Nyss Hunters is the same cost for a full unit (10 points) and is far superior.
Unless you're doing pKaya tier avoid any but the most self sufficient units with Kaya. You may also want to look into Gatormen with her.
