Yup, those certainly look like Bane Thralls.

Not really a clear enough picture to make any judgements on them, but they don't really look significantly different to the old Thralls...

Axes and heads have more detail on them. The shoulder spikes are more just studs now. One of the poses has the axe to the left rather than the standard everyone to the right. No more one handed poses except for the Leader.

Those are the differences I can see.

well, the details look a touch better, and maybe the back spikes are a touch sturdier or something

They are not all that different from the older sculpts but their details are more crisp and their lines more sharp. The old bane thralls were probably the best looking unit from the old days but these manage to top that easily. the more thoughtful sculpture of the armor makes them more realistic and easier to take seriously where the old versions just had to live on 'cool factor' alone.
Bravo PP.

Sexy. Definitely better proportions, and the detail work on the skulls and axes is much better than the original. Cheaper than the original too, so big plus there.

Ya, I can't get to it either.

I've already got twelve of the old ones and the UA which I'm in no rush to replace. Nice sculpts though.

Hopefully the back spikes are a little smaller and sturdier.

Like 2 dollars cheaper... not that big a plus. PP seems to be following GW's idea that plastic = metal in pricing despite being a way cheaper material.

In fairness to both firms, initial investment required for plastic minis is much bigger than for metals...

Does not compute. These are metal.

Oh really? My bad then - I assumed if they went to the bother of remaking them they'd switch to the cheaper material. Plus I've never seen PP do a box of 10 metals, I though all the boxes of 10 were the plastic ones.

Wait... not to be newb-ish (Too late!), but I didn't know that PP made any plastic infantry kits, which ones are these?

For example: http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/trollbloods/units/fennblade-unit

I don't know a good way to find them all on the website other than clicking on every unit and seeing - but generally (up until today I learned) the 10 man infantry boxes are plastic, as are some of the 5 man Big infantry boxes (Menoth has a few) - and all the Warmachine starter boxes were converted to plastic (its more a resin-y plastic from what I hear) too. It still makes up a small percentage of their overall line atm though. Hence my surprise at them remaking an old kit and not converting.

People should learn exactly how much more investment there is when it comes to plastic. Not all companies can rely on sales alone to lowering the cost

I've also noticed my "metals" are softer than GW. What is PP using for "metal" alloy?

Currently only plastic units are Fennblades and Legion Warspears together Menoth cinerators and bastions. All of the new resculpts in 10 man boxes have been metal.

New plastic Man o' War kit coming out too. Crossing my fingers for multi-part, but not too hopeful there.
