So, I wanna start up another army, and i want it to be a MEQ army, but i can't decide which non vanilla one to pick. My three choices are Blood Angels, Space Wolves, or Grey Knights. I kinda wanna do an assaulty list, and i know BA are good at that, but i wanna know how the other armies that i like do as well. Thanks for the Help!

hmmmm. I suggest. Blood Angels more variety of units to choose in that their are successor chapters and alot of different ways to build.
Like you can make your own chapter and such. etc etc.

Well, so you want to do an assaulty army. You've chosen 3 of the 5 "we like close combat more than normal Space Marines" Space Marine armies. They all do lots of CC.

That said, in terms of best bang for the buck, that depends more on the army build than the codex, but GK's will on average probably be the cheapest. Hell, you can get away with a 14 model army with GK's at 2000pts.

However, I feel that overall, the strongest SM list still continues to be Space Wolves, primarily for two reasons. First, Counterattack. This is a ridiculously powerful ability, making the army a very "****ed if you do, ****ed if you don't" proposition, and can often mean you don't really need to decide between standing still to shoot or charging as the end result will generally be the same after the opponents next turn, and allow you to very easily recover from mistakes, far more so than most other armies. Second, is unit cost. The core units that make up most SW armies are very cheap in terms of points, noticeably undercosted, and their Sergeant equivalents, while requiring an Elites slot to take, are not only significantly cheaper on their own but also have cheaper upgrade options.

Blood Angels will let you build a very armor heavy list, almost as armor heavy as IG can be (Thank you Mat Ward once again...an army known for close assaults and Jump infantry suddenly having more armor and dreadnoughts than any other SM force... ) and their tanks have the Fast rule, making them more mobile and better as shooting platforms, though a bit more expensive (though this won't mean much on stuff like Predators).

GK's will give you the option for lots of armor save ignoring attacks, tons of psychic powers, Monstrous Creatures, vehicles that are nigh immune to stun/shaken results and access to cheap and effective Guard equivalent units as well.

All of these armies can be very assault oriented, and none lack for firepower either.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Most bang for your buck is either a DoA blood angels list (lots of JP marines) or a Knightwing of Draigo and paladins, very few models.

I think I'm going to go with blood angels, because i feel like they're the most mobile, and i think they would probably be the best in CC, what with taking Death Company, and Dreads and Such. I might post up a 1250 list in the other forum section.

you can go with "vanilla" salamanders. they can be a very good assault army. the fact that their main ability with vulkan (twin link melta and flame wpns) just helps with assaults. nothing like taking a few out the flamer before going in for assault. or, pop a transport with melta then go in to assault what came out.

It goes like this

Blood angels are a go and getem style of CC army

Space wolves are a "come and get me" style of CC army (if you use them for CC, they are better at shooting than CC)

Grey Knights can do both types of CC but beware, if you go on the offensive, they will get overrun pretty fast and die. On the defensive, you get to pelt guys with lots of psycannon and AT fire before you charge.
