Ulrik fought in the First War for Armageddon in the Great Company of Wolf Lord Kruger, where he notably slew three World Eaters Chaos Space Marines in one close combat.

This is said in the White Dwarf Index Astrates Chaplains Article But there is no information Wolf Lord Kruger.
A great and revered veteran, he was originally slated for the title of Wolf Lord, but refused the title and was promoted instead to Wolf Priest, having been previously in the Wolf Guard. He is personally responsible for recruiting Logan Grimnar as well as many other Space Wolf heroes.

Reading this Says that He recruited Logan but during the first war of Armageddon He was a young blood claw?
A single White Dwarf article about Ulrik states that he both recruited Logan Grimnar into the Space Wolves and fought during the First War for Armageddon as a Blood Claw. As Logan Grimnar was recruited before the first Armageddon war, these statements appear contradictory. Additionally, the very same article spells his name as Ulric.

The current spacewolves codex goes on to say that Logan led the spacewolves in the first war of Armageddon. Now What is the official cannon? the current codex cannon or original Index Astrates cannon? how would some one go about writing a novel or story about the first war of Armageddon with this cannon fodder?

Whichever one states that he WASN'T a Blood Claw. They wouldn't directly promote a Blood Claw to Wolf Priest, let alone Wolf Lord. One of the reasons for his consideration was his service in the Wolf Guard before his lord was slain AFAIK.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

IIRC Ragnar Blackmane was indirectly promoted from Blood Claw to Wolf Lord. Granted he went Blood Claw to Wolfblade (bodyguard for the Space Wolves Astro-navigators) to Wolf Lord.

The Wolfblade was an assignment of demotion for Ragnar after he lost the Spear of Russ. The Space Wolves just wanted him out of their hair so they shipped him off to Terra as a punishment. After Berek Thunderfist was killed in battle, Ragnar skipped Grey Hunter, Wolf Scout, Long Fang, and Wolf Guard to reach Wolf Lord.

Actually he did not skip directly to Wolf Lord, he skipped from Blood Claw to Wolf Guard first after his slaying of a mighty Ork Warboss and his retinue. Then after serving as a Wolf Guard to Berek Thunderfist he became Wolf Lord when Berek was killed and Ragnar led the "Revenge-hunt". (Plus the thing about WolfBlade)
