Nasty Nob on a Boar

Ok - so a player at our store has ordered in some trebuchets, but they aren't going to get here by Saturday.
Any issue (sportsmanship or otherwise) that would deter us from letting him use lobba's or LotR Trebs with Bret crews ?
I know 'Ard Boys is all about having the model, but . . .

If he owns a model which is a reasonably-WYSIWYG substitute, or someone is willing to lend him one, that should be fine.

There's also the itsy bitsy problem that right now all metal models are on run down at GW, so not even guaranteed to get those Trebs.
LOTR Gondor Trebuchets are actually very good substitutes.

I have a similar question regarding trolls. Some years ago there was a
GW lawyers enforced firewall between LOTR and all other GW games (even tiny bits for conversions like pikes for Dogs of War) having to do with their liscenced property agreement. I once had to hack off half a 60 man regiments arms and speed-adhere wooden shishkebab skewers to their stumps an hour before a GT.
Does that issue still remain?
In any case if you are very competitive I'd lend him models to keep him playing them since they'll be gimped by the scenarios. Any war machines I see in rounds 1 and 3 will make me giggle like a mushroom munching night gobbo.

I used a LotR Dragon on a chariot base as Galrauch with no trouble.
course we have a pretty lax group as far as WYSIWYG, but still. it looked awsome.
i won't be using WoC at Semi's, but i am sure it would be fine.
but you know, there's always that one 'guy' and he always shows up and 'Ard boyz.

We didn't have any problems. We only had 6 guys run the fantasy event.
Anyone else notice low turn out?

Only 8 locally. Whereas 40k had 20+ last year, and 30-odd the year before that. I didn't play in the WH AB last year so don't know the attendance.

We were talking about this at our local GW the other day with one of the staff, and he believes that the rules for that licensing are no longer in effect, and they should be fine for stand-ins (I was discussing how you could get some cool Daemons of Chaos models out of that range).
Not anything official, I suppose, but I doubt he would comment unless he had some information on this.
That being said, Throne of Skulls explicitly states "100% GW models".

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

well, technically the models ARE GW as they are the ones producing them.
