Thinking of getting one of these games on PS3 or Dragon Age on Xbox, which one is better?

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

They are nothing alike.

Demon's Souls is a notoriously difficult action adventure RPG with a novel take on many core mechanics (multi-player, dying, armor, etc.).

Dragon Age is a story driven (Bioware) RPG that is akin to KOTOR or Baldur's Gate in a unique setting.

I enjoyed the heck out of both, honestly.

Thanks for the info, I tried the Dragon Age 2 demo and was blown away by the gameplay. I really enjoy the whole wizard being a viable way to play as well and getting better and better loot and equipment like Diablo

Dragon Age 1 does not play like Dragon Age 2.

The sequel is has much faster paced combat. It is generally better (IMO) in most regards actually, although the story itself is more reminicent of Baldur's Gate--where the setting/city itself is almost a character.

That said, the second one MAKES you get used to the setting/city as you spend most of the time there. The first one has a more direct story that goes to a variety of settings--however each setting matters less.

Long story short, do not judge DA:O by DA:2 gameplay. There are probably as many differences as there are similarities.

Editing to add:
Also, the sequel is not really a continuation of the first game--it helps to learn the overall story and setting, but you do not lose that much (of the second game) at all if you start with DA:2.
Generally it just means you will get some in-jokes and a few nods to your character's accomplishments from first game. It is not a continuation of the same character's story.

Story driven yes, unique no (unless you don't read or watch movies or play other games).

Wizard is viable in the demo but not in the actual "game". Bioware added these enemies that spawn in waves and waves like to spawn behind your back (the place where your wizard is).

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I had the same problem. I went for Demon's Souls. Here's a link to the thread if you want to look through what people have to say.

LoneLictor on thread about an ork choking the Emperor:

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.
