Hey everybody!
just a quick question here, I've taken a break from 40k due to the lovely life of college, but I'm interested in getting back into for the summer(and the next school year), for those of you who have taken breaks...what is the best way to get back into it?
Just read the rules and jump into a few games?
Thanks a ton Dakka

Pick up the small rulebook fromt he starter set on Ebay if you can - it should be cheaper, and will be a good first read for you in terms of finding out the rules.
As for armies, basic is easier - space marines are always a good army to start as with as a beginner.

I would say start up with any army you want.
Just get the rules play some 500P games then slowly progress back into full swing.

The above advice is brilliant, as I expect from the Dakka community but the most important thing is read the rules CAREFULLY! I came back into the 5th ed mechanized semi-wonder land and found I had some of the previous rules imbeded into my skull, even though I had read the 5th ed rulebook.

Look into the rulebook and codex's which can be found easily on GW's website or on websites like scribd. Browsing Lexicanum regularly helps enormously as well imo.
As for me, I got into it through the Dawn of War video game, that did help me introduce to the basic units and feel of the universe.
