In most of the games I've played, any squad that pops out of a Valkyrie or a Vendetta is usually cut down in short order. Now, I think a great idea for this to not be such a huge loss is to include a squad that is meant to be a suicide unit. What I had in mind was a special weapons squad with 3 demo charges. Each charge is one shot only anyway, so you're not losing much when the squad gets subsequently wiped out and whatever they throw those charges at will DIE.

125 points for 6 bodies w/ 3 demos seems too expensive if it fails/dies too quickly.

I use SWSs as counter-charge units.

Keep them behind Infantry Squads, and then when one is wiped out in melee, open up on attackers with flamers and demo charges.

Just yesterday, I killed an entire squad of GK Purifiers with ONE lucky demolition charge.

A special weapons squad with 3 charges is only 95 points, not 125.

valks can carry 12 models. Thats 2 SWS suicide squads it can deliver. 6 demo charge pie goodness! Some people might say thats overkill, they are right!

i maybe crazy, but I don't think you can put more than 1 squad in a transport. well, unless it's joined by an IC that doesn't go over the cap. limit.

its a good tactic but needs to be in close put them in the valk and leave them right on enemy lines in the valk then on your turn disembark your sws squads and unload everything you have even, bring a chimera with your command squad up and instead have meltas or plasmas which is 6 shots that wound a normal marine on 2s and no armous save

Yeah, you WOULD have to get the Valkyrie pretty damn close to pull that off. If you get first turn, the 24" scout move would probably leave you a pretty good chance of doing some serious damage with it. Putting plasmas on them COULD work, but the demo charge I think works better as a suicide weapon. If the squad survives and they still have plasma guns, that's a unit you're gonna wanna take care of. You don't have that problem with demo charges, as they're single use weapons.

And as someone already mentioned, you cannot have 2 units inside 1 transport.

You are not crazy, only one squad per transport, unless it is a super heavy.

I like to put flamer SWSs in vendettas. Gives it some anti infantry and makes it scoring. Also, it doesn't really have to drop them off as they are not a vital part of the plan, so you can sit back and snipe.

I don't ussualy give my Vets demolitions. I give them 3 melta guns and grenadiers for survivability and then i throw them in a Valkyrie.
