I am trying to highlight my nids carapace and I saw on the GW website they say to feather the paint. What does this mean, how would I go about doing it? Does anyone know of a video that might explain how to do this?

So how would I go about doing this "feathering" technique, I have the carapace painted Hexed Lichen purple with an Asurmen Blue wash. I am thinking about highlighting with either Enchanted Blue or Shadow Grey. Would I paint the lower edge of the carapace with the color I want to highlight and then take another brush and just gently brush upwards with that paint? What kind of brush should I be using for this, soft, medium or hard bristled brush?

Or is it acceptable to just highlight all the edges of the carapace with another color, like if it highlighted all the edges of a purple carapace with enchanted blue? Or should the highlights be of the same color family, like a 50/50 mix of codex grey and hexed lichen purple?
