First off I'm reading the Eisenhorn Omnibus and in the Xenos book some Deathwatch Marines make an appearance. So of course I'm totally into building a Deathwatch team out of some extra SM bits.

Regardless of the fact that Sternguard Vets may a better choice I would like to know if they are still legal to use rules wise.

According to the Deathwatch rules you can select one 10 man unit as an Elite choice for Witch Hunters, Imperial Guard or Daemonhunters. So with the GW Codex replacing the DH Codex can I still use Deathwatch Marines?

For instance if I took Coteaz and used the rule to take henchmen as a Troop choice could I also take a Deathwatch team as an Elite choice?

Through the magic of "count-as" it is possible; take a tac squad with some deathwatch bitz.

Count that tac squad as a Grey Knights PA unit(any of the 4); call their Psychic abilities as some sort of Anti-xenos ability, along with any of the Nemsis Force weapon abilities, etc.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Just count them as a Acolytes with Power Armour, that's what I've been doing for mine.

Even though acolytes are nowhere near the correct stats, abilities, or weapons to be deathwatch marines? Wat.
That's like saying "yeah, I just use dreadknights to count as my predator tanks."

Deathwatch rules have never been tourney legal. The new Grey Knights book coming out doesn't really change this fact.

The Polito form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your trivial existence?

It's not quite that bad... at least they'll be WYSIWYG!

True, but I nevertheless think that basic GK troopers might be closer to DW than acolytes.

One page entry like: for each Xenos Inquisitor you may take 0-3 deathwatch units as Elites. Then enter a buffed sternguard stats and wargear. Add multiple upgrade character possibilities to really make the squad individualistic and convey the idea that the single unit is made up of vets from many different chapters and boom, done.

So easy, so much potential... GK left some to be desired IMO

I have a love /hate relationship with anything green.
