I was trying to upload an image to my gallery to share on the forum. The image attached to my post at http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/362064.page

The uploader kept giving me an error saying it was too large, the wrong type of file or unable to download.

I'm confused because it's a 360KB JPG on my hard drive.

Is there an issue with the uploader or am I doing something very wrong?

Did you crop your image in any software before uploading it? The format is not a standard jpg image. If you open it in an image editor then save it as a .jpg, it should rebuild itself and will then get processed correctly.

I suspected that might be the case. Though no, I didn't do anything to it, just downloaded the file from Flickr. I wouldn't put it past Flickr to be tinkering with the file in some way though.

However, I re-saved as JPG and it didn't help. Perhaps I need to ->png->jpg it. I'll give that a go.

EDIT: Well that didn't work either. :/

What software did you use to save it?

and are you uploading using a phone or something like that, or just a normal PC/mac?

Does the uploader support PNG? Because that seemed to work! Anyway, the image is there now. I'll try png again next time to see if that's the solution.

Must have been a glitchy jpg. PNG is supported but transparency is glitchy.
