Understood.
Also: I'd like to include a cronos Parasite Engine. Is there any reason I should ever do that over a Ravager?
In short - Ravagers are kind of a 'plug and play' they don't require optimal strategy and can really help pretty much any list they're put into.
Parasite Engines are very specialized and should only be in an army list tailored to take advantage of what they do.
Let me also take a moment for a personal rant: If new
DE generals are going to keep insisting to treat 'Dedicated Transports' as though it's an actual Force Org slot - the least they can do is specifically note which units are taking the transports as opposed to expecting people to guess. Also - Dedicated transports are an upgrade to a unit and should be listed as such.
I might need to sig that soon, it's starting to get to me. In any case;
HQ
haemonculus w/ WWP+ Shattershard
Haemonculus w/ Liquifier Gun
One
WWP is asking for trouble, if it ends up off the board or in a non optimal spot you're just stuck footslogging from less than prime position. I'd personally include 2 - best case scenario you drop one portal Turn 1 and the other Turn 2 (and with
DE Turn 2 can be pretty much anywhere on the board) At the very least it doubles the amount of work your opponent has to do to gank your
WWP plans.
Troops
5X Kabalites, blaster
5X Kabalites, Blaster
10x Kabalites, Splinter Cannon
*sigh* 2 Raiders, and both Wych squads are kitted up as though they will be in Raiders with Haemys, but that makes very little sense as these Warriors don't gain anything by coming out of a
WWP. Really, you're using a
WWP to unleash...footslogging warriors with blasters? I find these overall a terrible idea as these guys aren't worth the effort - I'd much rather have Beastmasters, Wyches, Incubi, or Talos coming out of a
WWP. Heck, I'd rather have Wracks or Grotesques coming out of a portal. I find this part of your army list very weak.
It's *slightly* better if the 2x Blaster squads are going in the Raiders with the Haemons, but then I have to wonder why the 9 man Bloodbrides squads.
Elites
9X hekatrix Bloodbrides
Shardnet+impaler
Sybarite w/ Agonizer
Haywire Grenades
9X hekatrix Bloodbrides
Hydra Gauntlets
Haywire Grenades
Hmmm...please do yourself a favor and go compare the stat lines of Wyches and Bloodbrides, then compare their prices. Then notice that you aren't even taking advantage of what Bloodbrides are best at, which is bringing extra Wych Weapons. Also, your Troop slots aren't full yet.
You could save points and make these a scoring unit by turning them into regular Wyches and you wouldn't lose much impact at all. Also, unless they're in a Raider +1 Wych is better than Hydragauntlets and the cost is identical.
5X Mandrakes
Please compare stats and cost to Wyches and ask yourself why you think they're better than Wyches (hint, they aren't) I'd take Wracks over these any day, and Wyches over both and...you still have open Troop slots even if you switch both Bloodbrides to regular Wyches.
2X Raiders
I'd probably take flickerfields on at *least* the Raider holding the
WWP - that's an important part of your army's strategy, protect it.
5X Hellions
Helliarch+ Stunclaw
The STunclaw is one of the worst pitfalls of the
DE codex. It sounds awesome - but in fact is pretty much useless. I'd advocate the Agoniser strongly over a Stunclaw.
I'd also recommend Beastmasters strongly over Hellions. They do the same job, but a lot better.
To expand to 1500 - we'll presume you pop in 3x Ravagers (or maybe 2x Ravager + Talos/Chronos) because this list *desperately* needs more anti-tank. This will cost you roughly 350 points. Moving past that, the heart and soul of
WWP is lances to pop transports, and assault units to eat the contents. I'd suggest using the excess 150 points or so on another assault unit to come out of the
WWP. Wyches or Beastmasters would be my recommendation.
