So recently i was playing a friendly game against a "friend" who takes the game a bit too seriously. The kid studies the rule book so i assume he knows what he's talking about and dont argue cause its a friendly game and I dont wanna be "that guy" But then he charges his Blood Talon Dread into my Trygon who's sitting on terrain and tries to tell me because its a MC that he strikes at normal Initiative against it...tries to justify it by the cover rules for MCs. So i tell him no effing way. Charging into Terrain makes you I 1 automatically without grenades. For the record i'm right on this arent i? And What kinds of stupid cheater stories do you have, i'm not the only one dealing with idiots like this am i?

you were correct in that situation.

if it had been an Ironclad in that same circumstance however...

very few people actually cheat intentionally. its usually some newb who either doesn't know enough yet, or doesn't ever buy the rule book and goes off of 2nd hand info.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I don't have any specific stories, but I can think of one kid from my FLGS, who always brings about 200 points too many, then outright lies about it.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or he's just terrible at math, and in higher points games (2000+ points) it's more of a nuisance than anything really, but in a 500 point match, it really skews things.

My friend would occasionally try to get an extra inch movement by measuring from the front of his models base but moving up to the back of the base. Got a bit much when it was Crisis suits on 40mm bases.

Wait, that's cheating?

I need to take a long, hard look at my measuring stick.

It's probably a lot more significant with the 40mm models than the 28mm models.

Behind you

Guy who assigned wounds to different IC's. My wife called her shots on him, and he cheated.

Also, a guy who changed his devastator loadout midgame. I refuse to play against him nowdays because he still does that.

Make him take Space Monkeys. They can do that, can't they?

Changed his loadout mid-game?

Because of three guys who did that in a tournament at my FLGS, we're supposed to exchange army lists at the beginning of each tournament game.

But, I suppose it takes just one jerk to ruin everyone's good time.

Cultist of Nurgle with Open Sores

I consider it standard practice to declare troops that are inside transports, and present them on the battlefield (just place them in a corner) so my opponent is 100% aware of what's what.

Armies:

"Hazmarines" chapter - several 1,000 points
The craftworld "Yal Tir" - 2,000 pts & growing
- Nurgle cultists... coming soon...

Umbrella - most tournaments hav e a WYSIWYG requirement anyway, as well as a swap list requirement. The game should be open, by default, to prevent these sorts of shenanigans.

Had someone who would consistently over measure, to the point that his (fantasy) daemonettes, M6, were marching 14" a turn.

That wouldnt have been so terrible if he hadnt have been suh a complete and utter d*ck about everything as well. Ah well - one word to TOs who watched out for him in future games, and stopped him claiming 3rd place due to him being SUCH a bad sports.

At my club we play 40k on what I think is a 6 foot by 4 foot board, pretty standard right? However the tables are too big, so we have dead space either side. However one player at our club refuses to play with dead space. This makes it impossible to get into melee with him with any army that has to walk. It doesn't help he plays guard.

At another club nearly everyone "surfs" their guys. Basically measures 6 inches then move them "about 6" which is usually something like 8 inches. its pretty funny.

We're watching you... scum.

If my opponent makes a mistake, it happens. I'll ask if that move was correct and both look it up. But I guess it helps that I only game with friends. I expect my opponent to tell me if I do something wrong because I want to play the game correctly, but in the excitement of the game I do forget things.

Personally I freak out if I catch myself cheating!
The other night I ran an Ork Battlewagon with a Kill Kannon and 16 Shoota Boyz. Ah, you can only have 12 if the wagon has a Kill Kannon, I'd meant these to be in the other one but got the units mixed up in setup. I was all "OMG, OMG I've messed up the game," but my mate was cool and pointed out that the only thing they had shot at so far they had missed anyway. So I dropped 4 boyz and we carried on.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

Check the rulebook under 'movement'. There are dedicated pictures depicting exactly how to move your models; both infantry and vehicles. Summarised: you can measure either from the back or the front of the base, provided that when you measure from the front you measure TO the front as well. Like you said, it won't make *that* much difference on a 28mm (although its still a good habit to get into) but when you start getting 40mm, 60mm and even Trygon-size bases you can add huge distances onto your move.

See page 12 for reference.

P.S. To contriibute to the topic I've played against a kid who (obviously) didn't know the rules and tried to claim that his single 10-man CSM squad had *deep breath* a missile launcher, a lascannon, a plasma gun, a meltagun, a heavy bolter, an IoCG AND an Aspiring Champion with a plasma pistol and a power fist. As he was new I think he'd done the usual thing of not reading his codex and just gluing everything that he got in the box onto his models.

Oh, I also played against a kid that had Marneus Calgar and an Honour Guard in a Stormraven backed up by a Furioso Dreadnought and 7 DC with jump-packs. I face-palmed hard.

for the first year my brother and I played back in middleschool he had to deal w/ my striking scorpion 3+ invulnerable "scorpion armor" save.

I feel regret, but not much, he ran 2 mephistons

Can't beat Necrons w/ CSM?

Take 2 squads of Nurgle possesed Swooping hawks and haywire both Monoliths turn 1.

Can't fail. Then charge nightbringer with a possesed Lysander w/ MoN.

Just got to think outside the box bro.
