Well, it's never gonna be a tourney army [not a realistic tournament...] it's a for-fun army. But, I still want it to be effective enough that there's a good chance I can win, poor tactics forgiven.

For 3,000 points I really think you need another HQ in there. Maybe in termie armour to go in one of the LR.

2 tech marines seems a bit excessive.

The storms seem a bit out of kilter with gunline. Just take the snipers in cover with camo cloaks. Maybe telion?

It doesn't really seem that long range/gunline after all. Assault marines, termies in LR, LS storms etc. Vindicator also only have 24" range. If you want better shooting, then you probably only need 1 LR as the 5 termies with missile launcher will be on the table. Take rifleman dreads rather than techmarines in the elite slot. Maybe go for another razorback for the troops rather than a rhino. FA slot you could take typhoons if you want speeders. Maybe only 1 vindie and 2 preds in the HS slot.

The single Land Raider is just begging to be shot at this level you should be taking three of them

For the Assault Squad is pretty pointless, should be double units anyway.

For a gunline army it could have more ranged fire power.

Okay, am I the only one who thinks it's absolutely hilarious that one person says "You don't need that many Landraiders", the next post is the OP saying he'd changed his list, and the next post being someone saying "You don't have enough Landraiders"?

WTF are you on about? I said take another Land Raider because he's only got one, you do know about list building?

Sorry, I suppose it's just, well, the tone that a lot of these (and not just on this thread!) 'helpful' army list posts have is less "Here's some advice" and more "You need to do this, or you fail". It irks me.

'specially since, like I said, it was literaly "Oh, I shouldn't take three Landraider? Okay, I'll only take one. What's that? I should take three?" I mean, I could understand, you know, if you said "take more" and then backed it up with your reasons behind it, how they'd be used in a static gunline, etc. But an Orkmoticon and a post suggesting a 180 from the last change to the army list seems a bit... harsh.

You're still babbling. I gave reason why taking three, I said because a single one will be shot at. He can take three because he has the points to do it. There's nothing harsh about anything. You're just having a pap for no reason.

It's contradictory advice. he's not refering to you. he's refering to the fact that noone seems to have any real advice. they offer me their game plan.

Mercer, in the original list I had two LRs. I was told that one was a waste of points. now, you're saying "I need three" kinda shows that everyone just gives their ideas... rather then telling me what won't work.

Long range is a problem. the best range I can get is 48" [with the exception of the conversion beamer.] I have more then plenty of 48" weapons, four heavies, three twin-linked LC and a tonne of TL heavy bolters

I can see the need to replace my vindicators with predators... but I feel uncomfortable using predators. they have a certain level of "OhshitlookithasthreeLC!" that vindicators don't. [I'll usually find that if they aren't FTK, the vindicators will survive three or four turns.]

That's the problem they're ideas without any creditiblity. I've told you why you need multiple Land Raiders, I didn't see the original list so if you would have had two when I saw it then I wouldn't have said anything. I also said you can only get three just because of the list size
