Lets say you have 100 pts spare, and your not sure what to put them in. Would having 2 trukks (Empty) (Armour plates, RPJ)-100pts for both Trukks) be a good idea to put in an objective game, i mean you could run them around the board and contest objectives, that helps your boyz out because the enemy will have to end up shooting at your trukks instead of your boyz because there on the objective

Just wanted to see if that would be a good idea if someone had 100 pts spare

You can't field empty trukks, you need a unit of boyz, MANz or nobz to do so.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Though the basic strategy of using empty trukks this way is sound, and is a good use for them after your trukk boyz have disembarked and gone krumpin'

Why wouldn't you use buggies instead. They're cheaper, and if you're not needing the transport space, they run around just as well.

100 points? Your telling me you can't find a better way to spend 100 points than on 2 trukks with the armor of a wet paper bag?

The problem with this (for me) is that they are AV10 all round and open topped. They can die from bolter fire. So while its a nuisance, they will die rather easily. So, I guess it has drawn fire from your boyz, but its not like they require dedicated AT fire to take down. Honestly, one lascannon hit...

Exactly.

Can Trukks still get an upgrade to allow them to tank shock? Can buggies take that upgrade? Tank shocking definitely makes it easier to contest an objective a lot of the time.

You might have a point there. I don't think buggies can take that. They can take a similar option to re-roll terrain checks, but I don't think it allows tankshocking like the reinforced ram does.

Of course buggies are generally more freely available, as all you need is an open Fast slot. Whereas you have to take a squad of 12 or fewer models to get a trukk, which often is not a good idea, depending on the list.

Both units are good for the job.

This needs repeating. Also you can use them to block LOS on units you want to live (ie that unit of grots on a backfield objective, and blocking say a Dakkapreds' LOS to them), or provide coversaves to that battlewagon deffrolling about, or block access points into buildings... an empty trukk can be very useful

Both are good options...

Buggies are in a slot that only sees competition from the Scout Kopta, The 2-1 BikerKlaws, Stormboyz, and those are usually taken last to shore up the weakness of the list.

+1 for the Trukk of boyz though as during objective games you can fulfill the same role as gretchin during an objective game by leaving a single trukkful of boyz in reserve and go flat out and tankshock onto an objective!

+1 for buggies if your delivery for powerklaws is primarily from walking into combat and 29 ablative wounds. (Ie: footsloggers)
