Does the Imperium still poses terraforming technology? Or is it a lost technology from before the age of strife?
I know that the Rouge Trader game has aspects of colonization in it, but I haven't seen terraforming mentioned anywhere.
If it does still exists, can anyone point me to the example where they found it? Black Library book or old rule book.

I don't think they do, or else "dead worlds" could be quickly re-settled. The Imperium barely understands most of the higher-level technology it has as it is, terraforming seems to be outside of their capabilities.
However they still seem able to sustain terraformed worlds or worlds where life would be impossible, and I think places with artifical atmospheres and so on exist.

According to the IA books, terraforming is now impossible. It is one of those technologies that has been lost during the Age of Strife.
But other sources might say that terraforming is still possible. GW fluff is sometimes contradictory.

Tell me about it...
I was just wondering if there was anything recent I may have missed about the technology still being available, with all the new role playing books out.

Actually, the only thing I've read about any "recent" terraforming was in one of the DOW games. But the fluff published by Relic is sometimes inaccurate.
But we had a brief discussion about terraforming in another thread, and many people seemed to believe that terraforming was still possible. No one pointed out a source for this affirmation though.
So, I still believe that terraforming is impossible, since the only bit of fluff I've read about it said that this tech had been lost over the millenniums.
And it makes some sense since terraforming is obviously a very complex and expensive action, probably requiring massive resources and scientific knowledge.

And the narrator said that: "Only Kaurava III was not suitable for TERRAFORMING and reconstruction, because noone wanted to assume what was beneath the surface of the planet." And by any logic, if Kauravan themselves can do that, than every world in Imperium can.

Hmm...I don't know if I want to base any background lore on information from Reclic's games. Not that I don't love them...

In this thread : http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/362013.page it was proven that DoW games are official fluff for Warhammer 40000. And in DC and SS only ending that where made cannon by GW are the real ones - the rest was just for fans. In DC it is SM anding - for SS the IG. So my statement have good basis.

Or it may simply be a case of "We can terraform worlds to suit human needs, but we can't bring dead worlds back to life".

But IIRC, Kaurava III was excluded from the Kauravan terraforming project because it was also a necron tomb world. But humans lived there before the DoW events.

Maybe they where thinking about planet/animal life in the beginning. Then to start building cities and that sort of thing.
Still, they mentioned "terraforming" so they stil know how to do it, maybe even have an atmospheric processors somewhere in the Imperium. We will know more if GW ever say anything about it - right now we know they know how to do it and that's it.

I know Eldar can, but I imagine it's kind of like titians Imperiums lost technology to make titians but they're factories that can produce titians. So they're probably some left over terraforming devices.
