Let's take this hypothetical example.

1. A squad of gants are within 6 inches of a tervigon.

2. They get assaulted. I assume here, I roll LD on tervie's LD to give them counterattack.

3. They pile in and are now more than 6 inches from the tervigon.

Have they lost their adrenal glands/toxin sacs bonus? Would they keep their counterattack bonus attacks?

Record:

8th edition:
Tyranids: 5-4-3
Orks: 4-2-1

5th edition

Orks:18-5-1
Tyranids: 17-10-4

6th edition

Tyranids: 6-4-1
Orks: 3-1-0

The bonus for adrenal glands/toxin sacs is at the start of combat. Also you go off the termagant LD for couter attack NOT the tervigon.

Termagants get to use the Tervigon's LD for all LD tests if within 6" of him. That's part of the Brood Progenitor rule.

The bonus for adrenal glands/toxin sacs does not have a timing specified. It just says they get it if they are within 6". Normally this means they have to be within 6" at the time they use the bonus.

I would think they have to be in range when the assaults are declared, otherwise to be honest, it makes them almost useless.

But hey, thats me thinking rationally....who knows what GW wanted....

It's easy to place your gaunts so that at least one model is still in range of the Tervi when they swing. If you're launching the assault, just string them out a little in the movement phase to make sure.
