Are any other Dakkites out there from Derby in the East Midlands? If so where do you go to for your 40k fix, other than GW or Nottingham?
i realise it's silly looking for an alternative when Warhammer World is only 20 minutes drive away but if there is anythgin else within Derby i woudl appreciate a heads up!
Thanks.

There's Derby Wargames Society but not sure if that's aimed at GW systems or other.
Then there is Maelstrom Games in Mansfield and there gaming hall is called The Eye of Terror. I've not tried this place yet but it looks immense and 10% off GW in store.
And if you ever want a game around Derby area I live in Eastwood and have a games room (well - spare room/ironing room) or we can meet up for a game in Notts!
*EDIT*
After a quick scout on the t'interweb. It appears DWS meets every Monday and Thursday (That's pretty good for a club!) in Allenton. I go to Warhammer World most Thursday nights and some Sunday afternoons.

Well, it's not a gaming club, but in Derbyshire there's a GW there. You won't believe what I'm about to say but.. it's actually good. The guy that runs it (on his own, last time I went which was about a year ago ) is pretty chill with everything, and there wasn't many kids in there.. well okay about 6, but they were all engaged in hobby-related activities; one was painting, two or three having a WHFB game next to us and myself and three or four others playing a multi-bash 40k game.

i go into the GW store pretty often, it's just that it is a trek and they only have 2 little tables so games night is very hit and miss if you will actually get to play.
I actually like they guy who runs it. Doesn't force stuff on you and loves it when you bring in conversions and stuff for feedback.

Yep. He's a bit iffy with unpainted models though. And he once told me in a game that my Terminators couldn't assault out of my LR because it moved. I accepted it, then after I left I was like.. "wait what the fu-"

Hi,
I have just joined these forums and came across this thread. I was wondering if you had had any luck finding gaming clubs in Derby and if so which ones and what are they like?
Ive been looking for a decent club for a while now so any help you can give would be great. I currently visit the GW Veterans night most Thursdays but 40k seams to be struggling there atm and whilst I do play warhammer fantasy 40k is my game of choice. Ive also heard of a club starting in Ilkeston but have heard nothing about it for a few months so I dont know if its still running.

if you go to the following site:
http://derbywargamessociety.com/
It has details for a gaming club just past spider island in Allenton (if you're from Derby you'll know where i mean). they meet on mondays and thursdays, 7-11pm.
I've not had a chance to go yet due to work and the sprog but the people on their forums seem quite friendly.

Hello Derby chaps...
I hope that some of you are still subbed to this thread.
we're hosting a 40k Narrative Campaign Weekend in Mansfield in a fortnight and we're trying to get a few more players involved to balance out the forces. Hopefully the people of Derby will check this out and join us... here's a link to our dakka thread where you can find out what you may need to know.

Any one know if the gaming club in Ilkeston is open or not as I live very close ? Thanks

Im in Derby as well, there's a club called dice N dagger (google it for their forum or check it out on fb) where there are a group of people who regularly play 40k/fantasy/x-wing.
Theres also a store galactic gaming on the strand round the corner from the gw which hosts a variety of games (including 40k).
Im busy this coming week, but i could give you a game one evening the following week if you fancy?
