Just started playing FoW and decided on playing either the UK or USA. Which army do you think is better? By better I mean funner to play or easier or more powerful.

Personally I think each army is equally effective as one another when played to their strengths. I mean i really have no idea about the Americans, but i know from experience that British artillery and infantry are a force to be reckoned with

Just my 2 cents

I don't think that looking at it as U.S. vs. U.K. is the right way to look at this decision. Both nations have a huge variety of forces that they can take, all with variable skill and morale levels, playstyles, etc...

I think that the more important question is what kind of company do you want to play? Armor? Infantry? Mechanized Infantry? Paratroopers? What theater do you want to play? Early, Mid, or Late (keep in mind that there aren't any Yanks in Early War). Answer those questions and I think you should have a better idea of whether you want to play the U.S. or the U.K., or at least give us some better idea on how to help you make the decision.

Its kind of hard for me to chose between armor and infantry. And I really am not completely sure what mech infantry is. But other than that im most likely going to do Mid (thats what im doing my germans as.)

Mech Infantry (and this is my opinion only) has a hell of a lot of flexibility in being able to adapt to changing conditions during the battle. You have mobility to get to objectives, or protect a particular spot. You also have a lot of Infantry and weapons to hold back assaults. I look at an Armor Company as a Spearhead. It is designed to go in and hit hard, but it is always going to be outnumbered and somewhat vulnerable to Infantry assault and entrenched anti-tank weaponry.

The US has Armored Rifle Companys, which is riflemen in halftracks, hence mech infantry. You can also take a lot of combined arms with them. You've got Tanks, Artillery, Air Support, Light Tanks, Recon, Tank Destroyers, and more Infantry. The Brits have some similar options. Each faction has different special rules to play with, so really the choice comes down to what you like. I have a late war British Paras list, and a mid and late war US Armored Rifle Army.

So Mech Infantry use pretty much everything? Then why are they always outnumbered? I thought paras would be the ones who would always be outnumbered.

I'm also doing a German army. Would an armored army work the best since they have the panzer and tiger?

Mech Infantry is outnumbered only from the aspect that it focuses much more on combined arms units than straight up hordes of tanks or infantry stands. Paras definitely have an outnumber issue, mostly due to their more elite status. Even then, they have some combined arms options, but they are mostly an infantry/commando oriented army. If you notice with the ratings on units, a lot of the larger sized "horde" armies have a lower skill rating, hence more units. More elite forces are harder to kill, don't break as easily, and are more compact. This goes into your question about Panther or Tiger armies. You can use them. My experience has been that while they are powerful, they are sorely outnumbered. In a 1500 point list, you may have 4 to 5 Tigers or Panthers, and that usually eats up a vast amount of your points. It leaves them dangerously under-covered by infantry and support. If you want to do a panzer group, you may want to look at PZIV H tanks as a base with the heavys as a support.
