Subject: Question about using corks as temporary holders for painting...

what do people use to adhere or attach the model to the cork? or is it usually just a matter of drilling a hole in the model to tag the cork to?
Any help would be greatly appreciated in advance.

dunno how well blu tack would hold something onto cork. personally i drill and push the paperclip through the cork. for large/heavy models i will drill two holes so its got two pins holding it steady.

I use foldback clips attached to a short length of dowel.
The clip can happily grip a tab or stub.

I pin the feet of my models anyways(Hordes and Warmachine), so I just leave a much longer pin in the feet and pin that through the cork. I use jumbo paperclips, if that helps any. Works pretty well.

Blu-tac doesn't like to stick to actual cork, in my experience (although, there are dense, spongy synthetic corks that it sticks to, just fine). People that use corks usually pin their models to their bases, so it's just a matter of leaving the pin a bit long for the cork, then clipping it down during the final attachment.
I paint my minis with the base attached, so I blu-tac the whole thing to the top of empty or rarely used paint bottles.
