There's alot of talk about exponential growth [hardly] and expanding to new regions.

But... truth be told... GW has a marketing strategy akin to Gillette...

Gillette has
"AN EXTRA RAZOR." where they release a new line of blades and handles, and later special gel specifically for that one.

But, and I say but with emphasis...

GW is trying to use...
"WE NEEDZ MORE SKULLZ."

And quite frankly, I'm bored of it.

Who actually likes their models covered in skulls?

I like my models the way I like my women.

Covered in skulls.

No and interesting insight is new and interesting.

No wait, it's not. This is more of the same old boring GW bashing that we've ever since Cheeto stained fingers first learned to type surf the internet.

So stop buying GW figures then.

There are literally thousands of miniature providers out there (me included!) who offer figures that are different to the standard fare that GW sells. If you don't like something ONE company produces have a look around the net and find someone that does make the things you like.

GW are not (and never have been) the 'be all and end all' of miniature/tabletop wargames - I AM NOT saying that GW doesn't produce some very good stuff (both minis and games), just that there is a myriad of gaming opportunities out there.

Why complain about one, when you can just move onto the next experience?

Just my thoughts on the matter...

Silent_Spectre - I think the sculptor doth protest too much - trouble sculpting skulls?

htj - that would be against the rules, anyway their probably covered in more skulls.

@notprop - not at all, I just don't feel the need to randomly adorn my minis with 'grimdark' features. That isn't my style.

The point I was making, which you appear to have deliberately ignored, was there is a market beyond GW. If you don't like what they produce (or what any other miniatures company produces for that matter) you can choose to buy elsewhere, or not at all.

I'm actually an advocate for GW, FTR. I don't dislike the models... it just seems that they really like their skullz.

That they do. I think the culmination of the skull-love came with the battleboard. What to put in every crack in the earth? Oh, I know SKULLZ! A million, billion SKULLZ!! It looks like the planet is made of skulls and that there is a very thin layer of stone over them. Great if you only ever want to play on a daemon world, I guess.

shame that girl ruined herself with that terrible chest piece. (the ink).

I'm generally an ink fan, but I hate those kind of pieces.

I like ink on hot girls, too, but hers are horrible. Cartoonish, even. Art-wise, that chest piece is probably the best of the lot. What a waste.

Edit: On topic.. I like skulls on my models. But then, I do have a CSM army..

I wonder if they maybe look extra cartoonish due to the huge amounts of airbrushing the picture has received.

Wait, what was the topic of this thread again?

Hear, hear!

That's a message a lot of people should listen too.

GW is only the HHHobby. It isn't the whole wargaming hobby.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Ya lost me old buddy

Ontopic, like everything, a simple use of moderation would solve all of Gws problems. Some skulls on some models (that fit aesthetically and lore-wise) are fine.
Having said that Im having trouble thinking of many models with an abundcance of skulls on them.

I would prefer if they left the things like purity seals, chains, extra skulls, etc off the minis. Maybe leave them as add on bits. IMO it makes some otherwise great minis just a bit too busy.

Nothing really t'would seem.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
