Just passing the word out that tickets for this event are now available, our ticket allocation for the event is 32 based on what we sold last year but if they sell quick enough then there is an option to expand that to up to 50. To purchase a ticket you need to buy a event pass which grants you access to the whole show (£8 for one day is the cheapest) and the tournament ticket which is also £8. Details can be found here http://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/ and the whole rules pack is on the site. Any questions please ask .

I'll check on dates ... Not sure about IA units though.
Playing against a complete IA army gives that player a huge advantage if the other player has never seen it before. What's the rationale behind this?

I entered this last year but had to cancel due to other plans, I also can't make it this year due to plans, wish I could.
Got to say this mission is weird: R3) Dawn of War - Capture and Control (night fighting rules are in effect for the whole game
Night fighting the entire game? That's a stamper on long ranged armies.

Missed that one ... think maybe that would suit my Nids rather than my IG!

I was thinking of taking my Blood Angels which are Razorbacks....hmmm, I don't think it would work well. I don't mind set missions using the rules but tinkering those missions with crazy ideas isn't good nor fun to play.

I actually think the opposite in a way.
Night Fighting is completley pointless at the moment. So few units actually shoot during that one turn of night fighting, it might as well not exists. Maybe the option that you roll a D6 at the end of every game turn on a 4/5+ Night Fighting continues or something would be fairer.

Night fighting is through out the entire game on that mission for the tournament.

@ruminator - The main reason for this is the reason i think FW should always be allowed and that it creates verity in the playing field and for people who enjoy the hobby as much as the game to share in a more competitive environment without being penalised.
I also firmly believe playing any of the IA list is no different to some of the current Codex's how many people understand Witchhunters or Dark Eldar before the new dex not many im sure so playing against something new is not limited to just IA. As far as access to the rules as a counter i also believe that helps but how many people really buy every codex as soon as they are released, some but not all so again in terms of a disadvantage its not huge. Another thing to recognise is some of the lists are free to download of the FW website so you can check them out for free.
Ive run many events where people were allowed to field IA and it has yet to be an issue. I cant say 100% there fully balanced but i can 100% say SW's and IG are not so I don’t see the issue at this time. In the end most hard core gamers will never look at them or play with them so i don’t see it being an issue. If it is, then feedback rather than internet bias and unfounded speculation will change my mind for future events.
@mercer - My thoughts on an entire night-fight mission is to create something interesting and allow players to use some wargear items or rules that normally never see the light of day. As all players are aware of the missions and rules in advance they are able to prepare accordingly and hopefully create some more interesting lists or ways of using current armies in a new way.
I’m also going out there saying this isn’t designed as hugely competitive event, I want people to play to win but want the hobby side of the event be as important as the gaming as the prize support suggests, and things like IA and night fighting are parts of the hobby that are under represented so here’s a chance for people to try it and like I mentioned if it goes horribly wrong ill hold my hand up and change it for next time. I hope some of that helps you understand my thinking.

I think it's a breath of fresh air but I think it will be a problem for certain armies especially for ones who haven't got access to search lights i.e Orks. Rolling for shooting distance every turn can and will be really annoying.

Most the armies without searchlights are combat based anyway so shouldn’t be much of a deal for them and I’ve played a few pure night fight games and never found it a problem having to roll each turn in fact most the time people ignore shooting and move more something that makes a more interesting game. If people play through the missions a few times in advance then it should be a quick and painless game mechanic and shouldn’t slow the game down, it all comes down to preparation.
