Greetings
Ive been running 3 units of lootas for my elites slots and a unit of stormboyz for my fast attack. The lootas are brilliant, but Im finding the Stormboyz very hit and miss, and also that Im struggling with big combat oriented things like greater daemons and tyranid MCs.
So I've been considering dropping the stormboyz & one unit of lootas in favour of a unit of Nobz. Ive never run nobz before, & I'm just wondering what the consensus on equipping them is. Do I go with Powerklaws, big choppas, or a mix of the two, & if a mix, then what ratio? Also, do I bother with a truck, waaagh banner & 'eavy armour?
It might also be worth pointing out that my HQ is a KFF big mek, not a warboss.
What do you reckon guys?

Against MCs... dont even think about using nobs, their goig to be insta killed, unless you play them in 10 all pk unit. Stick some big gunz or wartrakks to kill mcs. Give nobz few pks, painboy, trukk, cybork bodies and Waagh! banner. Kill infantry and heavy infantry with them.

Nice mix. What's the total cost on that?
Personally I'd have kombi-burnas, much more likely to hit, very useful for softening up a unit before combat!

might be worth a look then. Does such a small mob size not make them vulnerable regardless of cybork bodies?

I've never run a unit of Nobz before either (without mega armour), but I'm fairly sure most people use them because of the wound allocation exploit when they all have differing wargear.
I could see my opponents just punching me for taking so long distributing wounds with this method, though...

tankbustas. they have rokkit to shoot at him out of combat and equip a tankhammer or 2 to finish him off. Automatically Appended Next Post: @ Content Josho
yep don't walk into a GW in a rough neighborhood. that might result in getting punched in the face by your enemy.

you have 4 guys at I4 with str 7 on the charge and WS5 from the banner. 2 guys with PKLAWS and 1 regular joe! It's enough to eat most squads and not take very much damage at all. I run them with my big mek that has burna and kff. He generally stays in the BW though.

Well, punch him back then. This is not an exploit, nor a hole in the rules. They even tell you how to do it with Nobz as an example in the BRB.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

Is the trukk 100% required? Do footslogging nobz generally attract too much fire?

This is the setup I have found works great for me!
1. PK/Waaagh!
2. PK/Pole
3. BC/Rokkit
4. BC/Rokkit/Runt
5. BC/runt
6. Painboy
I also stick em w my warboss cause he has a Klaw and squig as well but I see the boss isnt an option for ya...which isnt a problem, you might just want to add another PK nob or somethin.
And yes footsloggin nobz will die to mass fire...most opponents know how strong nobz are up close and WILL try to take them down before they hit their lines. I would iadivse against a trukk as transport though, its far too easy to take down...AV 10 is gonna die real fast. Get your nobz a Battlewagon...you give it a BS, deffrolla, xtra armor minimum and youve got a durable transport that will get them to the front in about 2 sometimes 3 turns and is still a massive threat even when the nobz disembark thanks to the deff rolla. Some others around here may suggest other things like an RPJ or boarding planks for your wagon...both of these are good options if you want to pay for them (which I usually dont).
So yeah stick em in a wagon and youll find them very very effective!
