My models haven't arrived yet but it occurs to me that, as most are modelled holding just bolters... is it possible to set them up so that they ALL have CCWs? Because it seems to me to go against WYSIWYG if they are modelled with just their bolters...

I suppose one can always just attach a holster but I'd definitely prefer them to look dynamic.

So I guess what I am asking is: Do you get enough CCWs in a Chaos boxset to model your guys with both bolters and CCWs? Preferably one in each hand (don't mind converting to do this)?

WYSIWYG as a rule only applies to a) characters (upgrade or independent) and b) the whole Eldar codex.

Most tournaments allow for "standard equipment" to not be modelled, so people dont have to stick frag and krak on everyone...

CCWs don't have to be chainsaws.

You get enough Bayonets/Knifes to attach to each model (either as bolter bayonets or just attached to the belt) and enough bolt pistol holsters to attach to 2/3 of the squad or so.

Then give them all bolters and they're peachy.

EDIT:/ misread the question

Yes you do get enough chainsaw arms and bolt pistols to give them all CCW/Bolt pistol loadout + bolters.

I think that with my Plague Marines I'll give them all bayonets... whereas my normal Marines will have a mix and match of bayonets/combat knives/chainswords.

I'll also try give them dynamic one-handed bolter poses by cutting off bolt pistols from the pistol arms and replacing them with bolters and green stuffing other arms into different poses... Perhaps that way each Marine (there are only going to be ten) will actually look individual and quite disparate

Looking forward to it... here's hoping I have enough pistol holsters lying around.

You may want to know that default wargear is not affected by the WYSIWYG rule. Only special weapons / optional wargear. An example for one is my Grey Hunters: Codex Entry specifically states their default wargear is a bolter, bolt pistol and CCW. If you think I'm modeling all of those onto every guy you're insane! >P However, if I have a Grey Hunter pack packing Plasma weapons then yes I'd need to represent that on the model.

Meh, well, when I've fought my friend that played CSM in the past and was totally ignorant of his codex... I had no idea that his marines were getting 2 attacks to my 1; I shan't say people SHOULD model their CSM with CCWs, but I think I shall to 1. Illustrate their purpose and 2. Avoid any nooby SM players moving to assault me

Until yesterday I actually thought that CSM and SM squads were pretty much the same..

As others have said, default wargear does not need to be modelled. SM tanks don't need smoke launchers or searchlights on every single tank, and Marines dont need Pistols, frag and krak grenades on every single model.

Assuming that it's a 5th ed marine team, you're right.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

And a non-BA army. We don't come with searchlights-have to buy them individually.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

At least the old chaos CSM box didn't have this problem, as they all got boltguns, holsters with pistols in them, and knives to glue on. They also came with some arms holding pistols and chainswords, but you had to figure out how to get the bolter on there on your own.

In any case, as has been mentioned, standard equipment is standard. Don't worry about it. It's only when you take upgraded weapons that it starts to matter.

...urrrr... I dunno

As I recall, WYSIWYG only counts towards upgrades. Anything the model comes with as standard, such as Bolters and CCW/Bolt Pistols as CSM do, are assumed to be on the model regardless of modelling.
