On a related note, kind of bridging this thread and the Fairness in Taxation thread, there's another petition going around for Earth Day.
This one's to ask
BP to not use their $13 billion losses as a tax writeoff. They've already written off the $40.2 billion set aside for cleanup, and the $20 billion victim compensation fund (though they've paid out less than 20% of the latter so far).
It's funny.
BP's tax credit is bigger than the entire budget of the EPA.
