So my brother and I got into it the other day because he said my DE RJBs cannot hull down my Raiders granting them 4+ cover. He said that RJBs are considered infantry and thus cannot block LoS on vehicles/skimmers.

I am away at college and have no rules to reference. I was hoping the wisdom here would tell me the answer. Thanks.

If, from his firing model's perspective, your RJBs covered 50%, or more, of your raider; than hull down is granted: this is the same for any vehicle: models will block los to what they block LOS to.

Also Jetbikes are never infantry; they are unit type: bikes, subtype: jetbikes.

P.S.: What he may be thinking of is the 4+ cover save non-vehicle models get when shot at between models in a third unit; vehicles do not get a save based solely on the virtue of the firing unit, firing between models in other units, but may still be illegible for a save if that other unit Block TLOS to 50% or > of the vehicle.

That is what i tried explaining to him. I thought the LoS rules were for True LoS. If my RJBs can hull down my Raider, it is in effect, hulled down.

I told him this happens all the time and is a great way to grant cover saves for your Raiders. He just argued and argued the point. I thought I was right. Much thanks.

Ask him to show you the rules that states intervening non-vehicle models are invisible when you are firing at the vehicle.


Spoiler: he won't be able to.

You can show him the rules that state models effect LOS(brb page 16 the First line of the second column); and the rules that State when Vehicles are granted Cover saves(BRB page 62, Second bullet point. Also note that models obscuring LOS are included in the rule on that point).

This is often why playing against a sibling (especially a younger one) is a bad idea.

I see it a lot at my club (4 players with younger brothers, and ALL of the younger ones do this).
The whole thing with "Na-ah, no, that's not how it works. I have mephiston. I hit you with his force weapon, you die, because you don't get armour saves."

"But you still have to wound him for ID to kick in".

Gawd, I love little brothers. Makes me glad my own isn't a gamer and that I don't get on with him, nor see him.

Funny part is, I am the younger brother... He's played longer than me so thinks he knows more than me. Its ok though, I'm better than him, and it pisses him off

Honestly DE Eledar; I like playing with new players(as in those that have just started in this edition) as they can correct me on mis-remembered rules that I still have held over from 3rd or 4th.

We just don't have any grown-ups with siblings at the club, so I only see the behaviour in younger ones.
