Is it worth it to add an Apothecary to a paladin squad?

That depends on what you want to accomplish.

Is it cool? Hell yeah.
Is it competitive? Not really, although in the context of taking Paladins at all, it can be a useful upgrade. However, it's extremely expensive for what it offers, so you have to weigh the benefits against what you're sporting in the rest of your army. In short, can those points be spent better elsewhere?

I'd say that it's not. While you become impervious to small-arms fire, most stuff shooting at Paladins will ignore FNP, if not ID'ing them.

I started a thread a while ago discussion the uses of a Paladin Apothecary. Gavo pretty much summed up our conclusion.

although, if you don't give them an Apothecary, your opponent will just flood you with small arms just like other terminators.

in a largish squad, always take the Apothecary. you already splurged on Paladins, might as well go all out.

Differentiated two-wound models with 2+ saves are really quite hard to "just flood with small arms."

theey are just worth twice as many terminators.

still pretty hard to kill, but realitivly speaking. they become alot easier.

with FNP, there is no point in anything that isn't AP2 or Str8+

Wound-allocation shenanigans will probably make it not worth shooting them with small arms anyhow, especially if there are Purifiers or normal Termies who would die much easier to it. Even if I only have one Battle Cannon shot per turn, I'd still only target the Paladins with small arms if they're the only things in range (I'd probably opt to run instead if they're within charging distance). I can only see the Apothecary being used in Draigowing, where everything will be subjected to small arms fire at some point (because there is literally nothing else to shoot at).

How much is an Apothecary, anyway?

Three times as expensive as a brotherhood banner, minus five.
