Halberd, mostly because I didn't feel like converting my Grand Master with Halberd to something else. A sword would've been fine too though, that extra ++ bonus is pretty good on an HQ.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

I prefer the Sword, purely cause I want my Grand Master to be a bit of a monster in close combat, and a 3++ save is just awesome!

Halberd. If you dont have a libby with I10 then this is just brutal - going before most units, most likely at S5 at least, is brutal.

I go with the Master Force Sword as I prefer my Grand Master to be more of a defensive weapon then an offensive one. He's meant to lead the army, and while most would lead from the front, his Grand Strategy and Psychic Communion make him just the person I want at the back lines, the last defense against daemonic infestation if his men fail to complete the task before them.

On moon miranda.

Here's my thinking on the matter.

Grand Masters are relatively expensive CC HQ's and force augmenters. Generally you want them in combat. Now, at WS6 I5 A3 and Hammerhand with Force Weapons, they aren't exactly lacking in the killy area. However, with only a 5++ save, they are rather vulnerable to hidden Powerfists, MC's, etc. Hence, I would use the Warding Stave. It doesn't do anything against shooting, but in CC< where he belongs, it makes hidden powerfists and MC attacks are less likely to kill your ~200pt character, and frustrates the hell out of Genestealers, Banshees and other similar units.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

@Vakathi: Remember that they still have an Iron Halo.

Which is why I run mine with a force sword. Warding staves are expensive, but a 3++ is almost as good, especially when I don;t have to pay 35 points for it.

Hrm, I did in fact forget that they had an Iron Halo. That does change the equation a bit.

Ey, why aren't Falchions here? Given the GM's stats and powers, I like killing units before they attack back.

Well, I've decided to move on to Draigo for the Paladin thing, but back when I was rocking a normal GM, I had a thing for Falchions. 7 attacks on the charge (3+2 for falchions+1 for charging+1 for banner) is just nasty. Of course, I ran him in a deathstar loaded out with the funbombs, so once he got into combat with something that could have the capacity to kill him anyway, he'd have already done his job, and any pain he inflicted would just be icing on the cake. But when you're multi-assaulting more than half an opponent's army with one unit (yeah... crowning moment of awesome right there), every attack counts.

Good point. 7 Attacks does sound more tasty than 3 ;(
