So, I have two ideas for demon princes to fill my heavy support slots in a mono-slaanesh army.

First:

DP with MoS (220)
Wings, Iron Hide, Unholy Might, Soporific Musk

Second

DP with MoS (185)
Wings, Iron Hide, Unholy Might, Pavanne, Soporific Musk

Obviously, the plan is to get somewhere quick, but I have mobility already covered with fiends and seekers. I'm also trying to keep these guys cheap enough to not break the bank, but I want to make sure they get to where they are going. Obviously, wings is better insurance, and is better for chasing tanks and such, while Pavanne is almost like "fleet" for the unit that I am trying to get to. (Move them D6" towards me instead of fleeting D6" towards them) It also can help my other beasties out in a pinch. So basically, which should I go with, since I don't want to load these guys up too much with points. I'm trying to avoid 300 point DP's.

Thoughts?

What point costs are you playing? And what kind of armies will you be playing? (most likely a whole range, but some people have a small group of gamers)

I think if your playing 1500 or lower, the Daemon Prince is a bit redundent, you have lots of rending and fast things. and 200 or so point Daemon Princes eat up a chunk of that, and from watching Daemons, the horde element of an all Slaanesh army seems most important (more Daemonettes/Seekers the better).

Another idea, that i have seen, and it seems fairly effective is a Daemon prince with no upgrades, just 80 point distraction, can still rip up tanks and damage fairly average troops as well.

I would never take a SDP without taking Aura. One of the biggest limitations of Daemon Princes is that they don't get Frag grenades for assaulting and when you're paying 10 points for a higher I, you had better make the most of it. Getting defensive grenades on top of that is just gravy.

This is an 1850 to 2000 point list, consisting of about the following:

KoS
KoS
6 Fiends
6 Fiends
12 Demonettes
12 Demonettes
DP
DP
DP

I hadn't really thought of the Aura and that's a good point, but I'd really like to focus on whether or not the Wings are mandatory to exploit "Hit and Run" from Soporific Musk.

You need the Aura. The best reason to take a Slaanesh or Nurgle Daemon Prince is that aura of acquiescence (or cloud of flies). The hit and run is also a must. You should probably use pavane OR wings, but you don't need both really. Here's how I typically deck my Slaanesh Princes out:

Daemon Prince
Mark of Slaanesh
Iron Hide
Unholy Might
Soporific Musk
Aura of Acquiescence
Pavane (if I have the points)

Honestly, if you're running a full Slaanesh list, make the Masque one of your HQs (means you can still have a greater daemon and a second herald-in a chariot!!) and you don't have to worry about 30pt Pavanes. Transfixing gaze is also good because you can limit the attacks from those unit champions with powerfists/characters with thunder hammers.

Wings are not mandatory and I personally never take them. Once you hit combat, its very easy to hit and run and you won't need them anymore as you will always be stuck in combat OR moving where you want. Wings help you one turn (maybe) and after that they will be useless. It's a waste at 60pts per model.

I won't go so far as to say I'm a Daemon expert, but I've lost 5 games with them out of about 25 or so. I take Slaanesh Princes every time and they always do well

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I agree with the above poster and in an all Slaanesh army the Masque is very flavorful. She is also remarkably durable if you can keep her away from small arms fire.

As a quick aside, I would split one unit of 'nettes into two of 6x for objectives.

Ahh well, your list style is completley diffrent to the Slaanesh list i have seen run in my area. timetowate85's load out seems effective.

The plan is that the big things go run around and be scary and hurt things, the Fiends do what fiends do, and the demonettes grab objectives.
