Thought I'd start a blog post on the stuff I'm working on now. I'm on the tail end of a Tau Empire army that's just a hair under 2000points. I figured I'd start off with The Broadside I finished the other night. I tried not to go crazy on it as I'm really only shooting for Tabletop or slighty better on this army. I've also started using an airbrush on minis and am enjoying the practice.
This is a kind of before and after shot Morelike after and before). I didn't really get the gradient between the darker green and the highlight green I wanted. I think its because I didn't go dark enough on the base color and didn't base coat in
black. I'll get it next try though.
More to come. I need a pic of my Devilfish and my Commander suit next.
I Completed my second broadside for my Tau army. Im pretty close to the end of all the minis I have now.
I base coated my Converted Tau Commander. he's ready for washes and detailing. The magnetized weapons I"ll do later.
My second Devilfish was done with my old airbrush and then I used some Tamiya weathering powder. I've got the drones base coated.
I originally had this squad as just a firewarrior team with carbines. I decided instead to use them as a second pathfinder team since I had two squads with Pulse rifles. I converted two of them to Rail Rifles with a few bits of plasticard. I think the coversion works.
They look as good as the metal pathfinders
I really should have written down what greens i used for these now that I have one more to add.
I had a lot of spare parts left after I made my Commander. Enough to make almost another full Stealth suit. I'm filling in the rest with Green Stuff.
I also started an attempt at a true height Space Marine. The legs are scaled to Terminator size.
At the same time I'm also working on my second scratch obliterator. here he is next to a Pathfinder for scale.
Latest Update. My Commander is completed. He has a full arsenal of Magnetized Weapons except for the Missile Pod which I might keep on the right Shoulder and the Flamer.
Before Les Armor Wash and detailing.
And After along highlights and with a few coats of Dullcote.
Seconded. The colour/camoflage scheme you're using and the skin tone is amazing, I really like the slightly glossy green and brown, particularly on the devilfish, stealth team and commander.
I also really like what you've done with the missile pods on the broadsides, however I'm not keen on the pose of the 1st guys railcannons, I think the one pointing into the air like that looks a bit odd...
The railguns on the pathfinders looks good too; nice conversions. The firewarrior/pathfinders look really good too. However, on the picture of the 2 pathfinders back-to-back, the one on the right has a bit of a wonky gun.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now." - Magnus the Red, to a statue of Leman Russ
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I noticed that about the second PF rail-gun, it almost looked like the plastic warped somehow. I have to check on that. On the first broadside I was thinking the gun pointing up was in a recoil position after firing or maybe moving into firing position from an upward stowed position. Its kind of funny that with the arms like that they remind me alot of the Destroid Tomahawks from Macross. That might be a good Idea for a future conversion! maybe with compact sized Rail cannons for arms and beefier legs.
I'm not really sure how I achieved that semi gloss look. I think its from the wash but I did use a Satin seal on the metal PFs which I kind of like. I am happy with the Devilfish but it doesn't match my first one. I might try some controlled airbrush highlights on the old one to get them to match a little more.
After posting these in the showcase it was suggested that I add line highlights to my Crimson Fists for my Black Reach Work Box set. I was trying to avoid putting too much work into these since they are going to be for table top play, but I took the advice and added highlights after and then an Asurmen Blue wash. Much improved with the wash, which actually fixed a bad matte varnish frosting. Again these are for tabletop
