I was skimming through the BRB and couldnt find anything that said exactly was I was looking for to convince my friend about my SW Scouts.
I outflanked on turn 2 (with a roll of 3+) and placed my scouts in his deployment zone 4" behind a Land Raider Crusader. I fired my meltagun and combi-melta (WGPL) and ended up immobilizing it. I then assaulted the Land Raider with 3 meltabombs destroying an assault cannon and hunter killer...
He believed that I could not assault whilst outflanking... I said outflanking is a part of my movement phase and that if he is within 6" that I can still assault because I didn't fire any heavy weapons...
I just wanted conformation because he felt really pissed off.

This is exactly what Outflanking is for.
He should have moved his LR or interposed some other unit. The soonest a unit can come from Reserves is turn 2, so it's not like he didn't have a chance to move his stuff!

Well it was DOW and he had to drive his land raider up on turn 2... and even with driving the full 12" that he did, the rear end hangs out enough to be in assault range of scouts...
Although he did have a choice to field just the land raider initially with the HQ and troops inside for the original deployment... either way, he wasn't happy... he didnt want to feel forced to put it out so soon, and ended up regretting his decision later...

He couldn't have deployed the LR in DoW, unless it was a dedicated transport for Troops. Was he playing Blood Angels?

Why turn 2? Should have been turn 1? Unless you were going first, and you meant he actually drove on turn 1, but then your scouts came on right behind him on turn 2?

He probably should have popped smoke, but obviously didn't anticipate this. Yeah, having the meltas in range, getting the immobilized and then auto-hitting with the meltabombs was pretty brutal.

In DoW you may deploy up to one HQ unit, and up to two Troops units. Everything else comes onto the table on turn 1, unless you choose to hold it in Reserves instead.
So if he was going first, the LR could have driven 12" onto the table turn 1, then another 12" on turn 2, before the SW scouts showed up.

Well that clarifies a lot... I was in a league where the TO of the store had said that everything arrives on Turn 2, because originally we assumed that everything that wasn't on the table followed the reserves rules... It's funny that both ways are wrong now, I'll have to break the news to him in a discrete manner because he is a very strong minded person. At the very least, we were consistant so there was not real unfair advantage because we were aware of the rules (that we were interpretating complete wrong lol)

Burntbeard when you bring it up to him, have P.93 handy (the DoW deployment) Paragraph 6 states "All units that were not deployed, and were not declared to be in reserve during deployment, must enter the game in the movement phase of their first player turn"

we probably just read it wrong and thought it was... "must enter the game in the movement phase of the next player turn".
