I know the rules don't support it. But is there any reason a Tech Marine couldn't wear Terminator Armor? I am thinking of running him as a Chaos Lord in Termy Armor for a Pre-Heresy World Eaters Army using the CSM Codex. I am also thinking that I could model a few Terminators with "Tech" arms that had multiple heavy weapons that would count as "experimental" Obliterators, and modified Dreadnoughts that would count as "non-daemonic" Defilers.

Thanks for any info you can give.

Lost in the depths of the Warp.

In the Black Templars Codex, Techmarines can take any of the equipment from the armory. Which means you can have techmarines decked out in termie gear. Of course that limits what you can use as I believe that removes the option from a servo harness.

Long story short, yeah you can get Techmarines in termie gear. And I don't think many people are going to argue with fluff in your army. It's always cool when people have interesting tidbits about their pieces.

Some editions ago, the techmarine was just an upgrade char of the command squad. The "Real" Techmarine was the iron priest of the space wolfs. Both had one thing in common - they could not repair any vehicles. The ability to repair vehicles was given by the "optional" servo-arm, and the priests were the only characters to use it.

Now, the repair rules are no longer linked to the equipment, but to the marine itself.

I'd be ok with a techmarine in terminator armour + servo harness.. just no 5++ as the energy goes into the harness..

You're doing a heavy conversion anyway. Do it - we need more exceptional models!

Do the current rules not allow this? Man I'm behind the times, techmarines used to have ANYTHING you wanted to give them.. Of course they have artificer armor now don't they? So that's why I probably haven't noticed the missing termie option.

Servo harnesses do fit on Termie armour, you have to file the back downa bit t make the fit snug though.

Here is my IW Warsmith with servo harness (made a few years ago). Its the chaos Termie Lord with the harness from the direct order tech marine.

Fluff wise, no real reason i suppose. You might be better of using the SM codex though as you coudl then make him a Master of the Forge who have articficer armour which gives a 2+ save just like termie armour does.

All techmarines(excepting BT ones)already wear artificer armor, and even the BT ones gain Artificer armor when they upgrade to a servo harness.

So the only reason any of them would want Termie armor is for the 5++ and ability to teleport onto the battlefield.

BT Techmarines also absolutely cannot get a Servoharness and termie armor(specified in the Harness portion of their options)

meh. My warsmith ripped it off the back of a Techmarine and had it grafted onto his Terminator armour as a weapon/trophy. lol.

I have no qualms with a Warsmith having it; the Old Chos Dex allowed for enough interesting kit on a warsmith to have it just about all representative(especially with certain Daemon weapons *cough* kai gun *cough* *cough*)

Thanks everyone!

And this is pretty much what I was looking to do. I have lots of plans for this PH Army. I listed my Ideas for count-as Oblits and Defilers in my OP, and I want to add some Marines in Forge World Mk III "Iron" armor with some "Biological" experimental upgrades as count-as Plague Marines led by a student of Fabius Bile, and as he will be the "Chief Surgeon" of the Company, he has also Amped-up the Implants of the Assault Squads, making them Berzerkers before the following of Khorne developed. I have some great ideas for fluff, and I will hopefully be able to write to fluff from the perspective of an Iquisitorial review looking into "questionable actions" of the company. The "Master of the Forge" count-as Chaos Lord won't necessarily be the leader of the company, that will most likely be Kharn, or a Kharn count-as (I will most likely model him to be Kharn even if I call him something else).

Again, thanks for everyones comments! I haven't delved too far into Loyallist Marine rules, as I focus mostly on CSM and Daemons, so I wasn't sure of the rules, and definately didn't know the stuff from older sources!

Cheers!
