Warseer is offline!

Due to technical diffculties, Warseer is currently offline. We have been the target of massive malware attacks and need time to rebuild a clean an safe environment.

We hope to be back to service within a week and apologize for the inconvinience.

AS you know I got a virus from warseer three weeks ago by going there despite Chrome telling me not to. Now it seems it is completely offline. I don't know why but Warseer has been repeated hacked in the last month spreading malware.

Doesn't have mean they've been 'hacked' does it?

Could it mean their server was and all forums on the server are down?

What, again? Oh come on. I never even use the bloody website and even I'm tired of it getting hacked.

Somebody doesn't like Warseer very much.

It's one of the many sites removed from the recent spree of malware abuse, just as I wanted to rampage through a tactica thread or two...

Oh well.

Might be because it's a large forum? Do hackers usually target smaller places or do they go for larger ones?

Either way I'm staying away from there until they get it sorted as I've had viruses corrupt my computer before and I dont like formatting my PC every 3 months because of viruses.

From what Philbrad said last time it wasn't that Warseer was actually "hacked".

One of the ads they had was flagged as malicious content, and that's what caused it last time. Could likely be the same case.

My Avast would go nuts at Warseer leading up to this. I didn't even post there, just lurk. That will teach me to be more active on a forum.

Except "last time" it wasn't them who got hacked.

It was their advertisers, and they pulled the site down to try to fix it.

How do you know that? Because your browser redirected you to the "This page has malicious material on it" screen?

It does that when even a simple ad is infected.

The bigger the better with something like ad-based malware. Generally it'll get discovered fairly quickly so you may as well try and hit as many people as possible in the short time-frame available.

They've gotten taken down by their own admin team quite a bit. All websites do for regular maintenance.
