So this is the first of my 10 Rough Rider conversions WIP. Ignore the paint job on the horse, it's an old Rider of Rohan horse with a very old paintjob from years ago. Oh yes and the base is indeed cardboard as I have no cavalry bases at the moment and need to mount them on something.

really nice! I think the horse needs to be a little bigger, catachans are big even against standard IG let alone LOTR! Love the pose and the helmet, maybe something on his back? backpack or cloak. Power cables on the hunting lance would be sweet if possible! For cavalry bases I suggest here http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/MINIAATURES_BASES.html

haha thank you for the advice and noting the size of the horse (or pony really). Yeh, right now acquiring non-LOTR horses has been a bit of a problem. I 100% agree that he is much too big for that horse after putting him on. So:
1) Does anyone know where I can buy horse models in bulk without the riders?

2) What do people think of the conversion for the rider?
