It's now 1995 points!

I ideally want Broadsides, but it's the cost of them (Money, not points)
I've kitted the vehicles wiht the disruption things, and dropped the Rail Rifles

To beat IG... well most of your guns will wound guardsmen on 2s, so I think your list against IG is good.

First of all its 2000 points and yet you have gone over, your gonna need to shape some points and fighting against GEQ T/L Missile pods will outdo plasma rifles with their extra range you don't really need your guns to be AP2. Personally I would drop one of the pathfinder units and downgrade the Shas'O to a Shas'el with the points saved you could take some more fire warriors.
On the Plasma/Missle Pod Crisis team drop the Plasma, T/L the missile pods and give them targetting arrays.
That's just my $0.02

DR, why have you not incorporated a lot of the advice from the last thread you had started?

1. MTs & DisPods for vehicles
2. Gun, gun, MT for Crisis Suits
3. Shield Drones instead of Shield Gens for Crisis
DrownedRat117 wrote:2006 points.. thoughts?
Always come in under the points limit. That's why it's a limit.

On moon miranda.

Drop the hammerheads and replace them with Broadsides. As cool as Hammerheads are, if you're facing an IG tank horde, 3 railguns just won't cut it when you're facing 15 AV12 IG tanks and you're only killing roughly 2 every 3 turns on average assuming no cover saves.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

It will not. A 2k IG list will mop the floor with this. A 1500 IG list can.

1. Crisis Suits are not optimum for killing chimeras, and just not optimally kitted anyway
2. Only 3 Railguns, and 2 TL FB suits is not enough
3. Too many D'fish and no Dispods

Go with ShieldDs instead. Trust me. Yes, even against Battle Cannons. Cover Saves will help there and the SDs will be ablative wounds.
DrownedRat117 wrote:11 Fire Warriors 1 Shas'ui
If you pay for a 'ui, you may as well get the Bonding Knife too.
+ Devilfish-XX pts
You're still posting points costs? Get Dispods for the built in Cover save, every time.

DrownedRat117 wrote:11 Fire Warriors 1 Shas'ui + Devilfish-
This is an extra D'fish. You have two d'fish from your Pathfinders, so this one isn't needed.

DrownedRat117 wrote:11 Fire Warriors

Move these SDs to some Crisis Suits. And the single MarkerLight won't really do much good. Drop the Ui or add a BK.

DrownedRat117 wrote:Crisis Teams
Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod Multi Trackers-
You could just type : x2 FireKnives

DrownedRat117 wrote:Fusion Blaster x2 Target Lock-
Plan to Deep Strike? Not a bad idea, given the Pathfinders' D'fish will help with the scatter dice.

DrownedRat117 wrote:TL Burst Cannon, Missile pod-
You can only fire one gun with this set up. Instead, try MP/BC/MT, a Fire Storm *or*, the Deathrain: TL MP and flamer (good for cooking guardsmen).

DrownedRat117 wrote:5 Pathfinders, 2 with Rail Rifles
I take it that you already own the models? They will do little good against IG. Pathfinders should be solely focused on MarkerLight use. So, just drop the Railrifles.

DrownedRat117 wrote:Hammerhead with Railgun and Burst Cannons-
Goodness. Add the Dispod and MT for a built in Cover Save and the MT allows it to Move Combat Speed and fire all guns, or Cruising and fire the RG.

DrownedRat117 wrote:2006 points.. thoughts?
A points limit is a limit. Since you have a lot to re-work, just shoot for under 2k.

Take your 3 Crisis Suits and lay them out 2" from each other in a line. Put the large blast template over them. 3 are hit, likely 3 will be wounded and it is likely 1.5 will die from the Shield Gen or Cover Save of 4+. Could easily be all of them.

Now, do the same, only adding 2 SDs. Now only 3 models are hit out of 5 for the whole unit, meaning only 3 can be wounded. 2 suits will *not* have to make a Cover/Invuln 4++ save! You assign two of those wounds to the SDs and one to the non-Team Leader suit. Odds are 1.5 SDs die, and a fifty-fifty chance 1 suit dies. Instead of 1.5 suits dying. It guarantees that only 3 out of 5 of the models will not be hit and far more likely to survive.

Also, with Shield Gens, if two suits die, the last suit won't be able to rally should it fail morale.

With Shield Drones and a Bonding Knife, losing the two SDs will still allow them to rally, and the BK is a only a couple points anyway.

A good argument for Shield Gens is , "Dude, but what if I get caught in h2h? I want my Suits to survive against a Power Fist."

The thing is, you don't want the unit to win combat. *Anything* getting caught in h2h ought to die/lose that turn it was charged, so that the enemy unit is open to retaliatory fire on the tau player's turn. And you can assign Pfist wounds to Drones anyway.
-----------------------
Except for the Shield Gens and Shas'o that could be changed to Shas'el + Target Array ... your list is not too bad now, but it could still be better, even working with the models you own.

Are your Crisis Suits magnetized?

How come you're not going with Shas'el Target Array, PR/MP, hwMT? Same Ballistic Skill, but you save points. The extra wound the 'O gains is often irrelevant because enemies target him with high STR ammo.

Also, I rechecked the whole blast template thing: Turns out, the full 2 inches makes it so only two suits/40mm bases are covered. Which makes the SDs even better, as the 2 wounds can be put on SDs exclusively.

What are the models you actually own? Perhaps your (and our) time would be better spent kitting out what you have and then you can build from there. I mean, how much cash do you have to spend?

Like I say, my Shas'o is the only model I currently have.

I will soon be selling a large amount of SM and be getting about £200, so about that (Most likely a bit over)

Ah, the *only* model. So for 200 pounds it'll be ( I don't have the "L" symbol on my American keyboard ... that I know of, anyway) :
1. the BattleForce box, ~52
2. 3 b-sides ~19 each
3. 5 more XV8s ~ 70
4. Box of FWs x2, one for FWs, the other to be made into Pathfinders
5. 2 Railheads or a few more b-sides

That ought to spend your money and give you a decent list heading for 1500.
