What do you guys think of Creed as an hq choice? He looks appealing for his orders, abilities, and stats.. but has anyone found him not to be worth it?
Is there a best way to play him?
What do you find yourself outflanking with his tactical genius ability?
Worth it or point sink?
Thanks in advance for helping out a noob guard player,

I only have limited experience with him, but those times he seems pretty solid for a foot Guard army.
sorry, thats about it.

Creed <3 Of course most times it will be more effective (and often cheaper) to field two seperate Company Command Squads but he can be very useful especially if you are using a second HQ slot but still want plenty of orders. Also giving something scout can be a game changer right off the bat and taking Kell will make giving orders to HWS much more effective and can save you points if you are fielding Commissars just for their Leadership for orders. The main downside, in my opinion, is how much of a target he makes the squad which means you'll end up spending even more points on increasing their survivability. I guess it can also be viewed as a waste of the CCS BS seeing as Creed is best suited to being behind the gun line giving orders but i don't think you'll really care about a few BS4 shots in the type of army he's suited for or at least i never have
In the right situations he can be invaluable but, as i said at the start, you're usually better off with two CCS.
Edit: I love Outflanking with my Executioner

I like Creed a lot, but only in large enough games to make the absolute most out of every ability he offers. My scout unit is thus 3 LR Demolishers, as it solves their range problem. You need some form of blob for the furious charge order, plus a few other squads so you can use all 4 orders a turn. All guard armies IMHO need vendettas and manticores, so add those in as well. Then you need a few chimeras...
It all adds up SO quick, that unless its 2000 points or more I dont even consider taking Creed, but at 2500 where you can take pretty much whatever you want, at that level Creeds force multipliers are very good. Straken is still the stronger characer of the two in short range thanks to cc abilities, and Straken fits in lists even at 1000 points, but Creed can lay quite a smackdown at 2500.

I strongly disagree with DevianID. I used to use him every game when i first started playing and we used to only play 1100pts. Granted DevianID is correct in saying you are unlikely to use "For the Honour of Cadia!" in such low point games but at the same time having an imposing unit Outflank in such a game can practically win it alone.
I may have overstated how much of a point sink his squad can be in my last post as i'm sure most games you could likely get away with just giving them camo cloaks and shoving them deep enough into area terrain they are unlikely to get assaulted but this does limit your deployment options.
Creed is for gunline infantry not a Power Blob army so i don't agree that Straken is the better option in this situation. Sure giving your gun line counter attack is nice but it's more useful having extra shooting orders in my opinion.
Creed is not a competitive option but he's great in friendly games.
Peace Out!

i have never fielded him in my IG armies. However, i have played recently against an army fielding him. His orders were good and brutal at times, but, i do think you need to take kell with him. thats 175 poiints upgrade. I am not against it, I just dont use him.
the guy i played the other night using creed with a huge blog squad of 50 and commissars in the squad. I was playing salamanders (drop pod army) and my main target was the big squad to start with. four drop pods, dreadnaught with hvy flamer, ironclad with hvy flamer, sternguard squad w/ vulkan, and a tactical squad with flamer, took that squad down to 8 on the first turn. so, the big platoon was worthless. However, him giving his demolisher scout, kept in reserve, then outflanking did put a big hurt on me until i could deal with it (thanks vanguard squad heroic intervention with thunder hammer fun).
If you are thinking of running him, get good at orders and knowing what each does.

Run Creed and Al'rahem for the everythings-in-reserve guardsmen army.
Run him just so your opponent can go "CREEEEEEEEEEEEED!" Whenever anything bad happens.
Run him just so during a game, if your opponent is surprised/mystified by what your doing, go "Hurr hurr tactical genius"
Do it

Creed works best in large games where the Guard have lots of units that need orders, over a large distance. Which means, he's best for a gunline army as others said, not powerblobs. Honor and Glory of Cadia may SEEM good, but it makes your Guardsmen fearless, which is NOT what you want. Your rerollable stubborn Leadership 9 is enough, and fearless just chips away at your ablative wounds faster. However, it is a good way to suicide charge in non-powerblob Guard units to hold off an enemy deathstar for a turn or 2.
Tactical genius is best used to bring in a unit of Hellhound variants. Leman Russes want to be firing the whole game, and artillery is too valuable to risk deploying like that.
Overall, Creed deos best in large games, with infantry line Guard. He's not a game winner, but he's definitely not a waste. I wouldn't take him to a tournament, but I happily take him in my fluffier shooting line lists.

I think he would be wonderful, as others have said, with a un-blobbed Foot Guard army.
The infantry would make a wonderful screen, and the second HQ choice slot would allow for another CCS, so you effectively have 3 CCSs on the field (with Creed and Kell's extended range and 2x orders).
Take as many HWSs as possible and utilize the amazing antitank firepower of 3 twin-linked lascannons or autocannons against tanks and monstrous creatures six times per turn (as an example).
