I imagine flamers would be good for dealing with hordes of the smaller nids.

if you run "counts as" Space Wolves... Murderous Hurricane is evil against swarms with low Initiative.

So are split firing Long Fangs.

Come to think of it, just play SW

If you do this, make sure you acquire Tyranid sprues to cut up and place 'trophies' on your warriors. It isn't Codex listed or anything but it'll give your army alot more character if you want them to really stand out as Tyranid hunters.

In the battlefield

rocket launchers on the devastator squads. some sternguard for the 2+ wound rounds.

might want to throw in a librarian with the close combat psychic powers since his force weapon will take care of those 4+ wound creatures. And makes for a cool character who hunts their biggest creatures.

a single thunderfire cannon can also eat up any swarms.

For basic squads I say free flamer and las cannon just in case you see some 2+ saves.

a command squad with 4 plasma guns can be the Carnifex hunters ;D

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

Was once told that assult marines with thunder hammers is a good idea too. Idealy would like to include a raven wing style squadron to go with them, maby with a nice friendly hive tyrant skull straped to a landspeeder bonnet.
