Last week i got alot of Catachan models for a very good price and i'v been wanting to get into different 40k armies for a while so i thought this would be a good time to do so
Since i lacked a command squad (and am not in a position to realy go out and buy one) i decided to make one with the parts i obtained and some from my bit box:
Back View
Commander and normal veteran.
No idea what the commander model originaly was supposed to be (the slotta thingy said lieutenant) but i found him perfectly fitting as commander.
Back View
Veterans with company standard and vox caster
Back View
Master of Ordnance and Medic
At first glance the medic is just a catachan with cadian helmet but i will be painting the helmet white and the symbol on the front red to more define him as medic.
Additionaly this guy is the only one in the entire army wearing a helmet
C&C appriciated (i'm allready aware of the presence of a few mould lines)

Kitbashed guardsmen is my favourite inspiration and man, these are great. You've got dynamic posing down quite well. My favourites are the commander and the second guy, he looks like he's about to do some damage.
Questions:
Did you GS the standard bearer's torso?
Did you GS the master's shoulder laurel?
Did you GS any of the backpack cloth/whatevers?
Are you getting the mold line on the voxer's lasgun?
Where's the voxer's head from?
Will all your guys have backpacks of some sort?
Anyone else know where the commander is from? I really want one.

Nope no greenstuff or other sculpting epoxy of any kind was used.

Ofcourse
Almarine wrote:Where's the voxer's head from?
From the old now OOP plastic sentinel kit
Almarine wrote:Will all your guys have backpacks of some sort?

Man.
In a perfect world, all my guys would have backpacks.
I guess the laurel and sack things could be taken from other kits. The torsos though, aren't from the CCS box, are they? I seem to recall it having two flak-less ones, with one having medals and the other a refractor. The chimera pilot is different too I think. They from an old vehicle sprue or something?
Noticed I've never seen the standard bearer's head either. It's from the sentinel as well?

Thanks
It's actualy quite easy to make if you want to do your own:
Get this sprue: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440253a&prodId=prod1290051 (can also be obtained from any previous edition imperial guard vehicle or current edition basilisk)
just use the tank comander body and legs (i swaped my torso with the one from a normal cadian) and a head of your choosing (altho a offiicer looking one would be more suitable)
Then simply get yourself a vox caster and cut off the original array/antenna thingies then chop up the vehicle ones to be smaller (their a bit big normaly) and glue those onto the back pack.
After you put that all together you got yourself a unique looking radio backpack for your master of ordnance (or master of awesome as i call him) to easily define him ammoungs the other guys

Only down side is the officer with the hat. Id cut his head down and carve out the inside of hat so it sits lower. Otherwise they look nice.

I would agree with that, he looks a bit stupid IMO but it's nice though.
