Could you give us a little bit more information? What I would suggest on say, a tactical squad sergeant is going to be a little different than what I would suggest for terminators, or for an IC.

This should be in tactics, not YMDC.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Realizing my post was not all that helpful:

ICs: Don't use thunderhammers or powerfists. This locks you out of an extra attack, and reduces your pretty freaking good I5 captain to an I1 "COME AT ME BRO, RIGHT HERE--SPLAT!--" If an S4 powerweapon or lightning claw (Please take two or none) is not good enough, use a relic blade so you have an I5 and S6. Usually I use a powerweapon and pistol for cheapness and having 5 attacks on the charge.

Librarians and chaplains are pretty much locked to default close combat weapons, so no dice there, as are SCs.

Squad sergeants should, IMO be outfitted with powerfists. 3 S4 power attacks won't do much to a walker or MC, but 2 S8 power attacks might. And in my experience I miss not wounding the MEQ or TEQ models in CC with me on a 2+ a lot more than a third power attack from the sergeant, and I -REALLY- don't like losing the ability to instant death tyranid warriors, crisis suits, broadsides, or to open rear AV like a tin can.

Terminators? If you are playing vanilla, I have always advocated wall to wall TH/SS, but feel free to add twin lightningclaws if you can get furious charge by whatever means. With shooty terminators, take at least one chainfist. Always. Put it on a random stormbolter model, but always take one. S8+2D6 armor pen will help with those pesky opposing land raiders or AV13 walkers.

Good advice man!
Lightning claws are cool, but I dont know enough about them as i'm new to playing [not painting though ] and my codex says "See the Assault Phase chapter of the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook for the rules for using Lightning Claws" and my rulebook is from the starter set, and there's no info! But yeah, i'm wanting to know cuz I want an effective list for when I play and want my Captain and command squad [in a razorback with Assault Cannons] to simply shred infantry. :L Please help

I lime the old relic blade and bolt pistol combo, if we were allowed to take force weapons as an option for a captain, that'd be there too! Erm, bolt pistol because i have a general mistrust of plasma weaponary from personal experience! But on a tactical sergeant, i usually go for a power fist to improve the squad's versatility, or chainsword and bolt pistol to keep points down.

Unless you're just using the booklet thingie from AoBR, your rulebook should contain the same rules as the big one. Specifically, check page 42 for the rules for special close combat weapons.

Assault cannons don't come in the Razorback set sadly. You'll need to convert them on.

Off topic a bit, but you can use the assault cannon turrets from land raider crusaders/redeemers on the razorbacks. the turret collars are the same diameter.

Oh. I've never owned a Land Raider myself and I don't really plan on getting one just to lift the assault cannon.

Get landspeeders. Each speeder comes with an assault cannon, and the conversion is pretty simple. I have 4 speeders which allowed me to make 2 assault cannon razorbacks. Since you'll want the speeders anyways, its a pretty good deal.

Now that sounds like a sweeter idea.

For Captains/Masters the best CC weapon is a Relic Blade and pair it with a Storm Shield.

Sarge's should get Powerfists and combi-weapons.

Assault Terminators should get TH/SS, if they are riding in a Land Raider, and you aren't playing Vulkan, then mixing in 1-2 termies with Lightning Claws isn't a terrible idea.

Which is a shame D:

Can a captain have a relic blade and storm shield? If so, How effective would a captain w/ relic blade and SS be with a command squad all with SS and PWs? If not, trade out the relic blade for a PW?

Captain with Relic Blade, Stormshield & Artificier Armor is pretty badass. 2+/3++, S6.

My Command Squad is setup for Storm Shield, Power Weapon & Special Weapon loadout (Magnets are amazing by the way). They can take down almost anything. I've found the 4 Meltagun loadout to be more effective when I want them to be in close combat, as I can take down 4 of my enemies and then charge. The Plasma Guns allow me to sit back and potentially take out 8 Terminators with little issue, it's happened many times to my opponents dismay.

A single Lightning Claw is usually superior to a Power Weapon, when on a A2 model. I'm not sure how that goes with an A3 model.
