And if so, does the "first to the fray" rule still apply? Seems analogous to the Snikrot question.

PROSECUTOR: By now, there have been 34 casualties.

Correct, for once Snikrot is actually the correct analogy

First to the Fray is even worded better than Ambush.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

The model that joins them would have to be in Terminator armor, no? Can't have Artificer armor teleporting onto the table.

Yeah, no deep striking if the IC can't deep strike, first to the fray requires the unit to be declared as arriving via deep strike.

It is perfectly legal.

A summoning Libby could make things quite nasty.

A Summoning Libby will only make things nasty for you, trying to Deep Strike your units within 6" of him? That's just asking for mishaps.

Violence isn't the answer, I just like getting it wrong on purpose.

Agreed. Even with a servo skull.

D6" scatter is perfectly fine...just have the libby on the outside of the unit

Or sneak a Mystic to that side of the board, somehow. . .

Why the trouble? Deep strike another random character with psychic comunion allong with him (Ordo Malleus Inqusitior for a budget variant, he may even take skulls), and then deep strike the rest of your army all over the place in turn 2.
