First go at a Grey Knights list 1500

He there. I was sitting around thinking what would be a good and fun list to start off with. I like the Inquisitor angle and am sick of being shot off the table with Dark Eldar so I came up with this:

Inquisitor Coteaz

Vindicare Assassin

Troops:

Squad 1
3 Crusaders
3 Servitors with Plasma Canons
1 Jakaero
Chimera
195 points

Squad 2
2 Crusaders
4 Death Cult Assassinans
1 Razorback w/ Twin Linked Assault Cannon and Psybolt Ammo
175 points

Squad 3
4 Grey Knight Terminators, 3 with Halberds, 1 with Psycannon, Psybolt Ammo
1 Grey Knight Terminator Justicar
245 points

Squad 4
4 Grey Knight Terminators, 3 with Halberds, 1 with Psycannon,
1 Grey Knight Terminator Justicar.

Fast Attack
Stormraven, Twin Linked Multi Melta
205 Points

Stormraven, Twin Linked Multi Melta
205 Points

Here is what I was thinking.
For one the army is pretty simple to build and use. With all of the transports I can easily change it around from game to game. I can deep strike the Terminators or let them ride in a Stormraven. Put Coteaz in the Stormraven with the Death Cult strike team or have him hang on an objective casting Sanctuary with the Servitor squad.

Coteaz gives me the ability to make the Henchmen troops and re-roll steal the initiative (or make my opponent re-roll his) He also has a Deamon Hammer for Tanks if I need it.

I am wondering where to put him. I’d like him up front with the Terminators but I think it will depend on the mission where he goes.

The Vindicare will deploy into cover or jump in the Chimera if its vacant and blast away at anything he wants.

The Servitor squad will sit on a back objective. With the Jalaero in there they have a Laz Cannon to blast away with in addition to 3 Plasma Canons. I threw the Crusaders in there as a 3+ save and some meager combat ability if they are deployed without their vehicle. I do have some Jakaero questions:

If you roll Penetrating Ammunition does that mean that the Jakaero weapons and the Plasma cannon from the Servitors have rending?

If you roll Improved Gun Sights does that mean that the Jakaero weapons and the Plasma cannon from the Servitors get 12’ more range?

The Death Cult are a wrecking crew. I know its light on bodies but they do have a good vehicle to get them across the board and other targets in the army to spread fire. I think once they get into combat people are going to cry. I gave their ride Psybolt ammo because Twin-linked Assault Cannon are super bad ass with +1 strength and rending.

The two units of Grey Knight Terminators are the hammer really. I gave the majority of the Halberds so they would strike at I6 with power weapons. Add the Hammerhand in there and they are Strength 6 too. The Justicar kept his force sword so he gets a 4+ invulnerable in close combat. I only had enough points to give Psybolt ammo to one squad. They will either Deepstrike, Ride a ‘Raven, or footslog across the board with everything else providing cover.

I went with two Stormravens with twin linked multi-meltas. I have used these in my Angry Marine Army (Blood Angel codex) to good effect. I like to load them up, first turn turbo boost, and fire the Multi-melta at whatever tank needs some death with power of the machine spirit. If they make it bast turn two then they become gunships.

That’s everything I could think of. Let me know what I missed or what you would change. Thanks.

I played this list last night against my sons Dark Eldar and learned a few things. I like the list so far but I am thinking that I may have to change out the Servitor unit for something else. I was also onsidering changing the Razorback for a Rhino and adding more Death Cult.

Consider taking out one or both of the treminator squads and fill it out with;
a) strike squads if you still want troops (this will let you get more henchmenn as well)
b) Interceptors in combat squads

This will give you more bodies and fire power which in turn gives you more tactical versatility.
