Im still kinda new to the gameing and all i have right now are 500 points of unpainted orks. cost is a big deal with me so in your opinons which one is more worth it?

If money's an issue, you might want to shy away from IG. Between all the tanks and bodies, you're gonna be spending a lot. Space Marines are cheaper per points. In addition, they're much easier to find on the internet used, which is much cheaper.

I'd recommend you at least paint your orks before you move on, though.

Space Marines if you value money, IG if you don't mind losing a few extra dollars. Both armies are fun to play, though.

And I agree with Gavo, I urge you to finish your Orks before starting a new army.

If you're a gamer on a budget, do NOT play Imperial Guard. They will break your wallet.

To all the people saying Guard is expensive:

yes it is expensive you play foot slogging guard

but if you play Veteran Mech, then its somewhat cheaper


But all in all,

I say Guard

IMO Guard

Guard is a lot more fun to model and do conversions with, has a variety of appearances and the Tanks are fun to build and play with as well

IG are a fun, competitive army that you can expand nigh infinitely with a huge array of modelling options and mini lines and lots of viable unit choices, however are also probably the most expensive army in the game to build in terms of $$$$.

Mech Vets are probably the cheapest way to go, but still will end up generally being noticeably more expensive than most Space Marine armies.

You gotta go with the IG tanks...they are just soo awesome. They are really fun to model and paint(in my opinion) and a army of them looks quite impressive and intimidating.

But the cost is an issue, but you dont always have to field a 2000pt army in a month. Take your time, have fun

I roll so many 1s and 2s when shooting I couldn't stand to play guard and take away my 3s as much as I want to and have to resources to spare.

If cost is a big factor, go Marines. Even Mech. Vet. guard will cost you $50 per squad.
