Hi,

I just have to admit I've had to create a new ID just so I could post this issue here...

Today, I tried to log back in (instead of lurking, as usual) and was greeted with a window saying that following updates, I'd have to reset my password. I followed the link, received an email and tried to reset my password from there. For some reason, I got an error message. I tried again, to no avail. So I requested a second email, and tried one more time, but the same error message comes up each and every time I try to reset my password. Now unfortunately my user ID is unaccessible as a result of all this, thus the reason I created a new ID.

Any idea what I did wrong?

Here's a copy of the mail I received :

Hi Player not found

Someone, probably you, made a password recovery request for a DakkaDakka account.
Please use the following URL to complete the password recovery. You will be sent
to a page asking for your email address and the new password.
(snip)
Remember, your username is: Player not found

Now when I follow that link and type in my email and a new password, I systematically get a page with the following error message :
Information
The supplied data is invalid.

Would the original name have confused the system? Or part of it? (considering the original had spaces and your new one does not).

No, I created the new (this) username because the reset wouldn't go trough, after I first encountered the problem (because I figured I needed to find a way to come here to post my concern)...

When I follow the link, I'm prompted to enter my email address and select a new password, and I did make sure the email address I entered was the one the email had been sent to; still, no matter what password I select, I am always greeted with the same error message.

Yes, I understand that, but a phrase like 'not found' may trick the system, because legoburner may have used this before as a bot name, or a tool etc. As you do not have administrative rights, you cannot create a bot or tool yourself. Even if the error didn't happen at first, it may have created an error more recently. Or it may just be an anomaly. hth!

Oh, would make sense.

Although, that is unfortunate, if it is the cause, but I guess I could keep the new ID instead (although I'd then need the old ID deleted so I can change my email address back to my regular mail)...

no, it is a problem on my part. I've managed to break the password reset code. A fix will be coming soon, but until then, email machinegod at dakkadakka.com from your old email account and I'll change the password on it for you (include your old username in the mail too).
