Hello Dakkites, I have a few questions and would appreciate any help you could provide!

So I'm going to start my own chapter after the summer and have a colour scheme; a half-black, half-white down the middle one.

So basically Dakka what I'm asking is:

1. What colours (for eyes, ropes etc.) would go with these two colours?

2. How to build up a good white

3. How to and the best colours for highlighting black.

Thanks for all your help!

MA.

There once was this Black and White Space Marine on a Black and White Bike, and being the hero-type person that he was, he wanted to marry the commander's daughter...

No, seriously: I think red could work pretty well for eyes and the like on a black and white colour scheme. When painting white, I usually basecoat with Astronomican grey and work it up to white. Black I usually highlight with shadow grey, although I'm not sure how that would work in that scheme.

Thanks Saint,

I thought shadow grey too but was on the fence about it.

If you have the paints and a space marine, I would suggest painting one and then trying out the colors, but, if for some reason you don't have access to any of those materials, use the space marine painter from b&c

Nice Idea, but you will have to be careful not to make it look "Mechanicum" or possibly the Iron Hands.

I have always liked this colour Scheme on the front of Space Crusade.

If you could adapt this one, and maybe add some Black and white check patterns in the Old Rogue Trader Style it would look somewhere close to awesome.

Painting, I would Prime in Autoprimer e.g. Grey. I would then paint him Deneb Stone, wash it with something like Devlan Mud and then paint up in layers of lighter whites and then highlight with skull white.

For the Black I would go with a Charcoal Colour and then you can darker/shade area's with Chaos black and then highlight with a lighter colour such as Astronmican Grey.

The Advantage of Black and White, is you can literally paint the eyes etc, any colour and it won't look bad.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

This has been a great help! I actually really like the front scheme for Space Crusade so I'll toy around with it all!
