Warhammer 40k Team Tournament Incoming!
When: May 1st at 10:00AM (That's a Sunday). Sign up will be promptly at 9:30AM.
Where: Giga-Bites Cafe
Points Limit: 1000 per person (So 2000pt Teams)
Entry Fee: The entry fee will be $15 per person ($30 per Team). Prepayment will be required 10 days prior to the tournament (Thursday, April 21st). Anyone signing up within this time frame, please pay immediately. If you fail to prepay (and you signed up before the deadline) your spot will be opened back up until it is either filled or you pay. Those signing up after the deadline, provided space is available, will be entered on a first come, first serve basis, and must provide payment when signing up.
Prize Support: There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, as well as a prize for Sportsmanship (to be judged on a team basis) and Best Painted (to be judged on an individual basis) There may be other prizes awarded based on number of entrants and arbitrary decision of the T.O.
Number of Entrants: 20 Teams.
Sportsmanship: Though it will not be a factor in your final tournament standing, there will be a sportsmanship score and bad sportsmanship will not be tolerated. This is a club only tournament, so there should and will be no excuse to poor sportsmanship from anyone attending.
WYSIWYG: All models should be WYSIWYG per the specifications in the BRB. Forgeworld units will not be allowed, but Forgeworld models will, so long as they represent what they were intended to be. Conversions are acceptable with permission from the TO and your opponents. If you would like to use a conversion, please bring the original model as well in case you are denied permission to use it. Painting is not required.
I would like to allow counts-as models, but WYSIWYG still applies. I understand that there might be special or corner cases here, so I ask that you please either post in this thread, or PM me if you would prefer.
List Building
As this is a team tournament there will be a few changes to the standard Force Org chart, as follows:
Each Team member must have the following in their 1000pt lists
1 HQ
1 Troop
Each Team member may have the following in addition
1 Elite
1-2 Troops
1 Fast Attack
1 Heavy
The Team may then add the following, divided between them as they see fit
1 Elite
1 Fast Attack
1 Heavy Support
Thus, the most a team member may have in his list would be 1 HQ, 3 Troops, and 2 each of Heavy Support, Fast Attack, and Elite. However, that means that he has taken all of the divided force org, leaving his partner with fewer options. Ergo, a combined team list will never have more than a standard force organization chart.
Q&A Section
Q: Can my teammate and I both use the same Special Character?
A: No.
Q: What about a model that is a 0-1 choice in our codex (assuming we both use the same one)?
A: If you are using the same codex, you may not exceed the maximum allowed choices for a selection.
Q: Are there any restrictions to using models or units that do not take up a Foce Organization slot, such as Warlocks with a Farseer, or Summoned Daemons?
A: There is no restriction to taking those models beyond what their entries will normally state.
Q: How do models with army-wide effects or auras (Such as Chapter Tactics or a Kustom Force Field) work with my teammate's models?
A: The effects will carry over to your teammate's models if and only if you are both playing with lists from the same codex. This is to give incentive and balance to playing the same codex across a team. Note that this includes such things as Locator Beacons on Drop Pods.
Q: Will special characters that change which squads are troops, etc., affect both lists?
A:As was suggested, this will work provided both lists are (obviously) from the same codex.
Q: How is [The Eldar Psychic Power] Doom going to work for teammates?
A: My understanding is that, by RAW, Doom would work across teams, regardless of codex used. Here is my reasoning: if the affected unit takes wounds from say, an exploding vehicle, they would still be rerolled - at least by my understanding. That being the case, I can't really see why it wouldn't work for wounds a teammate deals.
Q: Jamie, how are you ruling on all those GK questions?
A: Since the store FAQ was not even conceived of for the GKs till a week ago, I went ahead and ruled. Some of it lines up, some of it doesn't. In short, a pair of Falchions only provides +1 attack total; A Nemesis Dreadknight is still a Monstrous Creature even if it can jump; Teleport Shunt may be used in the scout move. Please be aware that this is how these rules will be handled in this tournament, and there will be no more discussion on the matter in relation to this tournament. Please do not post your opinion in this thread.
In addition to sign-ups, please use this thread to ask questions about the tournament, so that I may reply to all of them in one place. I will be checking back as often as I am able, and will be happy to help clarify anything you may have questions about. I will add any questions and answers to the Q&A directly above.
