Greetings all, I shall get straight to the point with my question.

As a long time Khador player, I'd given up the game about..a year and a half ago before Mark II after my models were destroyed ( Long story). And my friends are getting into the game, a menoth player and a Cygnar Player. Rather then just start Khador again, or bother with Cryx, I decided upon Circle Orboros. Now, what is their play style? And by that I mean are they hit and run, do they rush in, do they rely on beasts and warlocks more? Or are they more unit orientated?

Depends on the caster. Who did you have in mind?

He's a vergy good support caster which can also deal some real damage by himself. His spell list is amazing. Combination of Warpath and Wild Aggression can provide some really impressive charge ranges for his beasts. Just never forget to take Warpwolf Stalker and Druid Wilder with him.

Kromac is fun. If your opponents don't know him very well, you can surprise them with his assassination run - put him into beast form, advance 6", jump 5", plus his 2" reach, and you have a 13" threat range. You can unload up to 16 attacks on the enemy warcaster if you never need to boost your rolls. (2 initial attacks, 7 extra attacks from his 7 Fury, feat for 7 more Fury, spend to get 7 more attacks)

As magzier said, he can also be a really great support caster. Bestial hoses opponents who rely on a lot of spell casting and channeling(no casting or channeling within 14" of him). Warpath and Wild Aggression are great because you can advance your warbeasts 3" once/turn when anything in your army kills an enemy model, and Wild Aggression lets you charge/trample/slam without spending fury, with boosted melee attack rolls.

I like taking him with three heavies(usually Pureblood, Feral, and Gnarlhorn - I don't own a Stalker yet). Then fill out the rest of the points with whatever units/solos catch your fancy.

Kromac, what a beast. Literally. Shouldn't be too complicated to start out with, especially if your playstyle is aggressive. Run him with some solid warbeasts. The first model on your to-buy list should be a stalker. Play some lower point games with him, until you get familiar. Then grab a Feral or a Pureblood, and combine them with Kromac. Use the 7 fury from Kromac to start your upkeep spells, like Inviolable Resolve (+2 armor/fearless, gives stalker and pureblood ARM 19, and feral ARM 18, or 20 if you warp prot. plates), Wild Aggression and Warpath, and prepare for the next turn, 'cause it's gonna get nasty! Opponent's turn, they run up too, possibly shooting you a little bit, but don't worry 'bout that... at all... mwahahahaha... Remember, warp berserk on the stalker and strength on the pureblood/feral. *Never warp spell ward on the pureblood first or second turn, the enemy can't cast spells on you, but friendlies can't either!* Everything charges for free, stalker has reach, and the pureblood can spray any infantry armies down! Stalker goes berserk, killing everything it can reach with POW 16/18 and reach, Feral does the same thing, except it buys more attacks, (no berserk), 4 to be exact, hitting POW 17s I believe. So Stalker slashes and probably kills everything it can reach, pureblood sprays pesky infantry, possible getting a nick at the caster, if said caster moved up with the rest of the army, (Yes there are casters that stay back, such as Severius of Menoth), and the Feral gets 6 POW 17 smashes at whatever it likes as well! This army is easy to start out with in my opinion, but you might also want to try pKrueger or Mohsar, they have some insanely nasty assassinations and shenanigans. Oh, and you'll probably want some bloodtrackers and Nuala to start, they are hard hitting (weapons master) and fast (SPD 7). Nuala lets them jump out of the forest, shoot, and then retreat 3 inches, to keep them safe. Oh and they might have stealth if I'm not mistaken. Hope this helps,

I gotta say that I was supremely lucky in starting Orboros. I went to my FLGS and walked to the counter with some things, I was looking at spending some cash to start a 35pt Kromac army. Well apparently the store owner was getting out of the game, and sold me his army, his 175 point circle army for dirt, dirt Cheap. Score!

I'd like to point out that Inviolable Resolve and Wild Aggression are "target model/warbeast" upkeep spells. This means that if you want free charges thanks to Wild Aggression, you have to cast it on *all* your warbeasts individually. Same thing with Inviolable Resolve. A single casting of Inviolable Resolve will *not* give all your warbeasts +2 ARM and Fearless.

Warpath is, IIRC, the only CTRL area upkeep spell that Kromac has. I've been casting Warpath, Inviolable Resolve, and Wild Aggression on my first turn, and then upkeeping Warpath and Wild Aggression in further turns. Also note that if you switch Kromac to beast form, you won't be able to upkeep spells, so plan ahead for that if you want to use him for the assassination run.

holy_doctrine, it sounds like you got a great deal on your Circle! What all did you get a chance to pick up from the LGS owner?

@mr grey

if im not mistaken you cant cast an upkeep spell on different units. only one copy of the upkeep spell can be at play at any single time. if you cast the spell on a different target the older copy disappears

as for kromac...him and eKaya are my casters of choice lately

@bakerofish You're probably right - I never cast upkeeps on multiple units, so it's never an issue for me, but it is an important rule to note. I was trying to clarify a little because Nation almost made it sound as if all three of those spells could be cast to give their bonuses to all warbeasts in the army.
